"U bent slachtoffer", aka "You are a victim". That's what the brochure says. It's some kind of "support manual" published by the Ministry of Justice here in Belgium. The aim is to explain administrative and legal procedures to victims of acts of physical aggression.

What do you think? The government officials don't look very inspiring, do they? Especially the third one looks like an older version of Gomez from the Addams Family (without the moustache).

Then, everything becomes blurry… I found the brochure lying on the floor of a hallway. How ironic: it has fallen victim to the carelessness of its own administration. No mothership connection. How cruel. by @nukem_101

A new week, a new surprise. For reasons that completely elude me, someone has put a traffic sign in our courtyard.

Perhaps it's there to highlight the many ups and downs in a career? Or perhaps it reflects the need for balance? My desk is on the second floor of a four storey building. One might say: halfway between the gutter and the stars.

Look at that: two weeks ago, I borrowed another book from the bookstand in the station. "The saints are going to hell" looked like a very promising title. I was expecting something "dantesque", you know: saints travelling through nine circles, facing vices all the way down.

Unfortunately, that did not turn out to be the case. Rather, it's a novel on priests joining the working class. Ouch, what kind of an unholy union is that? Still, the book's introduction contains a sentence that packs a lot of punch: "In this century, the cross rules without Christ". Something to remember...

Meanwhile, I've returned the book. It's now heading for a new, unknown journey…

Look at this drawing I saw in the office of a colleague. No AI, I can assure you!

A daughter made it to wish her father a happy birthday. Now don't assume the worst. Daddy is still very much alive. I suppose she merely expresses her desire to wish him a happy birthday for many, many, many years to come... What do you think?
