🚨🚨Long Post Alert 🚨🚨A year ago today, down to the moments of right now. My mother stopped by my house to visit us and get on her bike, but we did not realize the night would turn into this. As careful as she always is on her bike, she took the back streets, wore extra gear for protection, we were not prepared for what was about to happen in the blink of an eye. About 2 hours after she left my house to head back home, I realized I never got a call or text from her to verify that she made it home, so I figured she must’ve made and fell asleep. I checked her location and it showed Beaumont Dearborn. Very odd to me!!!! Because why is she at Beaumont Dearborn at 10-11 at night, maybe visiting a friend in the hospital but not there as a patient. Boy was I wrong!!! called the hospital they had no such patient by my moms name or date of birth there. Called Wayne police to see if any accidents were reported, they stated none. I didn’t care because something didn’t feel right, so I rushed to her location. We were about 10 minutes away from the hospital when my step dad finally got the call that she was admitted and she wasn’t gonna make it through the night! Someone had hit her and the police projected her flying about 20 feet off her bike! She had multiple breaks, fractures, organ failure, you name it she had it. They said If it wasn’t for her helmet she would have been dead on impact. I wasn’t gonna believe what the doctors had told us about her maybe not making it through the night because of the damages and everything that happened. I prayed and cried to God! We all did as a family. We all were there for support. She always had someone there by her side through the whole process. She was on the vent for 2 1/2 weeks, underwent over 10 surgeries, multiple organ failure, dialysis, told she might not walk, BUT GOD!!!!!! They said they were gonna have to give her a trach, BUT GOD!!!!! They said rehab was gonna be a long time as far as not walking, BUT GOD!!!!!!! Y’all my mother is a walking, living, breathing, miracle!!!!!!!! No matter what mom, you fought, you kept your faith, I thank you for always displaying a strong individual! I’m proud to be your daughter by @nursekelle_

🚨🚨Transparency Post 🚨🚨 Life as we know it is a rollercoaster, it has its ups and downs! When it’s going good, it’s great but of course when it’s bad, it’s really bad! After 6 attempts of taking the NCLEX, I can be addressed as Rickelle H Brown LPN! After multiple failed attempts I wanted to give up each time, esp after the last time I attempted while my mother was in the hospital fighting for her life! Instead of giving up I kept pushing and praying!!!!! I stayed focused and made sure that I was not gonna lose this time again! 5 times failing does not matter, bc my one time that I passed made me an LPN! I want to thank God first and foremost, bc with him any and everything is possible, and secondly I want to thank everyone who believed in me and pushed me to keep trying! by @nursekelle_

I honestly wasn’t planning on making a post, but since it’s already out there… Yesterday was my RN pinning ceremony, and I’m still trying to put into words what this moment means to me. ❤️🩺 On July 1, I officially completed my LPN-to-RN program—a journey that began in April 2025. It wasn’t an easy road. There were sacrifices, long nights, stressful exams, self-doubt, and moments where I questioned if I had anything left to give. But I kept showing up. This isn’t just about becoming a Registered Nurse. It’s about proving to myself that I can keep going, even when the road gets hard. Every setback made this moment that much more meaningful. To my family, friends, classmates, instructors, and everyone who encouraged me along the way, thank you. Your support carried me through more than you know. To anyone who’s chasing a dream that feels impossible: keep going. One day you’ll look back and realize every sacrifice was worth it. Here’s to the next chapter. RN. ❤️🎓 by @nursekelle_
