Nutmeg TU Talk!
Romanacci’s Pizza - Westport Train Station
Tues September 16th
7pm

@matthewdelormeart will be talking about the pressures our changing climate is putting on summer fisheries, targeting alternative species when the weather gets too hot, focusing on the journey not the results in angling.

Matthew Delorme is an Artist, Professional Photographer and Staff member at The Compleat Angler in Darien. As a former guide in Seattle, Matt quickly became aware that managing expectations of clients in a declining fishery was key to keeping customers happy. Focused on the experience, being in the moment, rather than results, is a cornerstone of his style. He believes alternative fisheries offer so much in our ever-changing environment, and that the journey is just as important as the destination. by @nutmeg_tu

🎣TIC 2025🎣

Trout in the Classroom has been a staple of TU’s many programs which serve the community.

On January 9th, Nutmeg Trout Unlimited volunteers delivered state-supplied brown trout eggs to nine schools in Bridgeport, Weston, Fairfield, Shelton, Monroe and Stratford.

It is amazing to see the teachers’ enthusiasm every year when we drop off the eggs. The students are excited as they get to watch the eggs develop into trout, ready to be released into a local waterway this spring.

Our newest addition to the program, Adam J Lewis Academy in Bridgeport, shared some photos that show why the TIC program has been such a success.

We are always looking for more schools, so if you know any teachers that might be interested, please have them contact us at:

Trees for Trout on January 11 🎄🎣

Trout Unlimited and Aspetuck Land Trust will be collecting your old Christmas trees on Saturday, January 11 from 10AM to 1PM just past the first bridge (heading north) on Park Avenue in Easton.

We will “plant” the Christmas trees along the banks of the Mill River that flows through the Warner Angler Preserve.  By anchoring them, we’re building up eroded banks to improve the depth of the river, the flow, and provide a better habitat for the wild brown and native brook trout population.  We did this on a relatively short stretch of the Mill in 2024. The results are promising, and we plan to extend the bank restoration in 2025.

There will be a Trout Unlimited sign and volunteers from both Trout Unlimited and the Aspetuck Land Trust who’ll handle the trees for you; you won’t even need to leave your car.
Suggested $10 of donation will help pay for the anchors taken in Easton, Connecticut by @nutmeg_tu
