Time to get retro and funky! Ever since I saw this car in real life I’ve wanted to make one. The Vector W8. America’s proudest and oddest supercar from the late 80’s!

Given that this car is basically the same shape as a piece of cheese, designing was a bit of an interesting proces. In general, the car is designed on a base with an even amount of studs. But with the help of some snot building, rail plates and bigger submodels, the rear does extend to a 9 wide format. An 8 to 9 wide transition is always fun to work into a Speed Champion. But its particularly interesting in this model as the base itself just stays at 8 wide.

The front is also interesting. I always try to fit in a proper transparent windscreen, but none of LEGO’s windscreen pieces fitted. So I had to build up a custom windscreen with bars alongside it for the A-pillars. And together with the pointy nose, they form one big submodel that fits in a very snug space.

There is more fun stuff in this build to explore that I wont spoil. Just know that the model remains very sturdy, and still has room for 2 minifigs. Even with all that complex custom windscreen nonsense. An odd car, deserves an odd building experience.

Normally I don’t really do EV’s. Its just not my thing. But you can’t really say now when you get a comission of one. So here is one! The Porsche Taycan Sport Tourismo.

And as far as EV’s go… this is really not that bad. I always really liked the look of the Sport (and Cross) Tourismo’s. So I really enjoyed putting this one together. We’ve already seen some great recreations of this car in the past. Most notable by @thegbrix . But with the help of some newer pieces and techniques I managed to come up with a fairly new take on this car.

Especially the rear windscreen was a big challenge. Using slopes, wedge tiles and hinged elements to create that sporty station wagon shape with a little bootspoiler. Never really designed a car like this, so it was a refreshing element to take on.

The rest came together pretty quickly. Its far from my most complex model ever, but its still a pretty interesting build with a roomy interior for 2 minifigs.

A bit of a contrast compared to last week’s post. Yes… its another Mercedes. But not the homologation legend that is the 190E. Nope… this time its a rugged and dependable Mercedes Sprinter Box van!

And you may be thinking… Nard, what the hell is this about? Well I didn’t design this model because I though it would be a nice addition to my own collection. But I did recently switch jobs, so this was my goodby gift to the company I worked at. As they use these for transport. But to try and kill 2 birds with one stone… I decided to make it accessible for you guys as well.

This was a rather enjoyable building experience. The front has some pretty cool techniques for the headlights, grill and the whole greenhouse section. And then at the back we have… a box. Nothing too fancy about that bit, but sometimes simple is fun too. And hey… its got some opening doors. So its not all that simple. And not only does it fit moving boxes, it’ll also fit 2 minifigs.

Hope you like this box on wheels. I’ll be back with good old supercars, sportsaloons and all that stuff again soon. This won’t be a trend. Unless you want it to be 😉.

The Mercedes-Benz 190E evo II. Possibly one of my most requested models to date. And you guys finally convinced me… cause I took the plunge and built one. While there are already plenty of really cool models of this car in Speed Champions scale. I always felt that there was still enough creative “wiggleroom” to come up with something pretty original.

That originality is most visible around the front. Getting that iconic silver grill right was the main goal of this model. And with the help of some bullbars and axes, I came pretty close. It is a bit of a flat design, but thats a compromise I was willing to make as I do think this captures the DNA of the car pretty well.

Another thing that helped with the design proces of this car is all the new parts we’ve gotten in the last year. The new windscreen, and different types of corner wedges really allowed me to sculpture the shaping of the wider fenders and pointy bumper. And I also had go get pretty creative with the C-pillars. Always a tricky design element on saloon cars.

Over all I’m really pleased with the end result. The build is really sturdy and has a lot of fun techniques scattered through the building proces. There is also room for 2 minifigs. Oh, and before you ask… yes, I’ll make a DTM Racing livery for it in the future.

Now this is the LEGO Speed Champions Nissan R390 I always intended to make. My original take on this car way back in 2021 was rushed and lackluster in sooo many areas. Even back then I knew I could do better. And now, 5 years later with a healthy amount of experience and newer pieces… its finally here.

I already shared with you the white/red version, but this blue version is the one I’m most happy with. Apart from a few tweaks like the removal of the spoiler and some new cheeks, its basically the same build. But that blue color with red interior just pops that extra bit!

I also did a few touch-ups with some stickers. As always they will be available from the @brickstickershop
