What a weekend! 🍁 The very first ADCC in Alberta is officially in the books, bringing together 45 teams from across the province and the rest of Canada. With a turnout and energy like this, it’s safe to say ADCC will definitely be back!
As a coach, I couldn’t be more proud of our squad. We had 16 incredible kids step onto the mats to represent Dallas O’Regan Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu—many of them competing in an ADCC event for the very first time.
More than the medals, what stood out to us was how you all carried yourselves. You were cool, calm, and displayed absolute sportsmanship and respect from start to finish. That’s what real martial arts is all about. 🥋🔥
That being said, the hard work definitely showed on the podium! Together, we brought home: 🥇 10 Gold 🥈 3 Silver 🥉 5 Bronze
...which landed us the #3 spot overall for the Top Youth Team Rankings! 🏆
To every single one of our competitors: hold your heads high. We are incredibly proud of you for getting out there, testing yourselves, and learning.
A massive thank you to all the families for your endless support, and a special shoutout to Annalise for running those extra training sessions to make sure everyone was dialed in and ready. We couldn’t do this without our village.
Rest up, and we’ll see you back on the mats! 👊

Saturday mornings are for the kids 🥋

Every Saturday at 10AM we host a Kids Open Mat at Gentle Arts Dojo.

If your child already has jiu jitsu experience, this is for them.
If you’re a parent or a coach with kids who train, bring them by.

Our open mats are free, structured, and supervised in a safe, fun environment where kids can:
• Get quality rounds
• Try new things
• Build confidence
• Grow friendships across academies

🐉 Castle & Dragon 🏰
The dragon starts inside the castle (aka side control) and tries to make it to the other side of the castle. The castle’s job is to capture the dragon in the dungeon (aka closed guard)!

Games like this have been super effective with our kids program — we love finding creative ways to build stories around jiu-jitsu positions. It keeps training fun, meaningful, and helps the kids understand the why behind each movement.

For our advanced kids, we scale it up by having them switch sides multiple times without getting caught and locked in the dungeon! ⚔️
