THE REST IN BETWEEN
Acrylic on canvas | 2024
20’’ x 40’’

⎔ The REST in Between ⎔

Nowhere shall I begin,
to speak of the mystery
is to bite the snake
in the tongue.
truth be told,
lies be laid down
to speak of this mystery
is to bite my own tongue.
I rest all my swords
in return for the rest of my heart
the rest of my being
blossoms from all
rest in between
Here sitting
in my throne of thresholds
Nowhere have I been
more unrendered
of my own assumptions.
Of time. of creation.
of myself. of others.
Speaking in soft tongues
There I begin again,
There I begin to listen.
closer, I begin to see.
there, the mystery speaks
from firmly closed lips.

In her dreams,
She sips thru the center of that,
which is older than memory itself.
All senses, smudged out of definition,
She inhales the thread
of a time foretold.
Unraveling the heart of visions;
she becomes the offering.
All giving, All receiving.
Burning in the weight
of such sensual surrender;
there, she remembers.
Between all the shifting hues of symbols,
beyond the patterns,
there, out from the holy hole,
a whole new time emerged,
where there’s nothing else
to remember.
Now, the dream starts over.

Big bless to @_tadoula_ for supporting the vision, right on the get go! Aho!

Sending tons of love to everyone who connected with us while creating this mural! This wouldn’t have been possible without each and every one of you. Now, we are one mural closer to the idea of turning Tzununa into a more vibrant place to live! We are deeply moved by the community’s response towards this project; locals, travellers and residents alike. What began as a simple act of beautifying a wall has now grown to a grassroots effort to bring together harmony and diversity in an already rich and abundant community.

Support from both local and foreign communities is what’s making all of this possible. Please visit our fundraising website to donate and know more about this project. Link is in our Bio!

Now towards the next wall!

What a journey it was. From a simple green wall, to a mural theming with optimism and youthfulness. A wall once disregarded became a portal of inspiration for locals and visitors passing by. Bringing smiles to everyone, especially for the young ones.

We are proud, yet humbled by the community’s response to such artistic initiative. The appreciation from the family and the local community is deeply heart-warming. This appreciation extends to everyone who supported. To all who donated in our fundraising page. To everyone who came to say hello during the process. To all whose hands got dirty painting flowers with us. To all who sang songs of prayers in the midst of the traffic jam. @thekarunakirtancollective @authorlukema for being epic. To all the folks at @trececielos. Yum! We are happy to present this gift of vision to our beloved community.

The idea to just make a random wall in town beautiful, opened up into a very curious inquiry. What if all this empty walls are telling a story. All this stones, all this cracks and plasters and cement. What if the story is coming from the land itself, waiting to be told. Waiting to surface. Maybe all this empty walls are the surface where part of this stories are told.

Now, we find ourselves in a mission. To paint this story across the town, One mural at a time. Here in the empty walls of Tzununa.
Bringing inspiration closer to the home and heart of everyone.
The next wall is just around the corner.

“What if walls were used to tell a town’s stories?” @nwari.now.here asks. And that’s exactly what this Karunity Mural Project is about—bringing our stories to life, creating beautiful chapters where they meet.

“It’s about adding color, creativity, and showing the children of the village that their dreams matter,” says @blancayau as she adds another stroke to the wall. Nearby, Gabina—the little girl who lives behind the mural—spends every moment sitting on the curb beside her, watching her own portrait take shape. It’s a week Gabina will never forget.

Based in Tzununa, on the shores of Lake Atitlán, Guatemala, this Community Mural Initiative is led by Blanca Ramírez and Angelo Jamilano—two traveling artists who found refuge in this magical town. Through collaborative murals, they bring art closer to everyone, weaving together the stories of locals and travelers alike.
