NY state law requires insurance plans to cover over-the-counter birth control without a prescription, but are insurance companies actually following these laws? We want to find out, and we need your help!

Phenomenal kick off to campus organizing this year! 21 colleges across New York state organized to take action for World Contraception Day. Students collected petitions and talked to their peers to call on their colleges to add emergency contraception and Opill to vending machines on campus. This gives students a low cost, anonymous, and accessible option for getting birth control. This campaign helps reduce stigma and debunk misinformation about birth control at a time when social media and pop culture are creating a chilling effect around birth control access.

Our 2nd pharmacy canvass day…in Jackson Heights, NYC!

A huge shoutout to our advocates - some even making a 1+ hour commute to make this day a success.

La Trobe University researchers found that only 10% of top online content made about reproductive health were made by medical professionals (Mandel and Donnelly et al. 2025).

Of the top 100 best performing videos on TikTok, 58% were made by everyday people, 15% by self-labeled hormone health coaches, and 15% by health educators.

NYBCAP advocates gathered in NYC for our first pharmacy access canvassing day - in just one afternoon students visited 32 pharmacies! Advocates shared information about laws that allow pharmacists to bill insurance companies for over-the-counter contraception and prescribe the pill, patch, and ring, making pharmacies a true one-stop shop for birth control 💜
