Jerome’s energy is unmatched when in the same space as him. Always full of posi vibes, ready to step up and keep the party going. On the road, he’s an absolute beast. Whether it’s on the signature BMW or on the MTB, the homies got blocks and will ride circles around any rookie. Anyone lucky enough to call him a friend knows he goes above and beyond for the people he loves.

Over the winter, Jerome began feeling back pain that got to the point where he had to be hospitalized. After some tests, a few growths were found in his lungs which needed immediate treatment. While going through rounds of chemo, Jerome still made it out the house to show up and be outside. His recent surgery removed a few masses left on his lungs to hopefully begin the road to full recovery.

Nothing has kept Jerome down, no matter the circumstances as he continues to fight this cancer. Along with the upcoming NYCBMA Rookie Series, this GoFundMe will help raise funds so he can get some rest and focus on recovery. Please donate what you can so he can have some peace of mind. 10/9 is just around the corner and we’ve got a full day for the NYC messfam! Start off your day with us at Worth Sq. for mess breakfast. We’ll have pastries, tamales (thanks to @monkeybikemk & @aztecas_en_dos_ruedas )and drinks to get you fueled up for the day.

During your workday, keep your eyes on the Google Maps list we’ll release the morning of to collect the secret packages worth 1 point each. Check the list below to see how else you can rack up points! Collect as many points as you can and deliver the packages by the EOD over to @enochs.nyc for validation. @paremongputi has been cooking up an alleycat that will start and end at at Enoch’s, where we’ll be hosting our event for the night. Throughout the evening we’ll be screening films from the @bmff.109 featuring videos from our worldwide mess fam, quick lock games will be held during intermission. Bring a shirt or buy one at the shop, where we’ll have live screenprinting. Thank you to our sponsors this year for donating prizes to all the winners for the evening. This week is @bicyclefilmfestival 26th year, screening in NYC thru Sunday, beginning Thursday the 24th!

NYCBMA is hosting Kino Kat aka the BFF alleycat, this Saturday! Registration begins at Cooper Square, 7PM. $5 entry for everyone, or free for *messengers (*legal docs, fashion garments, serve, pharmacy, etc). RAIN OR SHINE - photo checkpoints.

We’re halfway through our Rookie Series with 3 more races to go! After a rain delay for our first race, we had a DOUBLE HEADER set for the series debut.

@j3rome_gang12 sent racers up to Harlem then south to The Charging Bull with checkpoints in between. Aurilla’s bench checkpoint gave racers a moment to catch their breath as they tagged up an @ortlieb_waterproof messenger bag before hitting the finish at the ConEd plant on Ave C. @piparaicing_02 completely flexed on everyone when 10 mins after the start he decided to race, taking the win to show everyone how it’s done.

With the last of the racers rolling in to finish, we wasted no time to start @grabba_chuck Stuytown Pentacrit. Many said it would get shut down but, we made history with the first crit to be held in Stuytown (???). 5 checkpoints had to be completed in order then validated at the Stuytown Fountain in Stuy Oval. For the freshest of rookies it was a challenge to locate. To add to the madness, Chuck wanted racers to take a shot of tequila at cp 5 at one of the spiciest corners of the course. Racers had to complete 2 laps and race to the finish at New Wave Pier for the award ceremony and BBQ.

@jade_nastie brought back the classic 3 Blind Mice format for her race. Racers were given a slip with a destination, upon arrival the next checkpoint was revealed, collect all the slips and return them to the finish. Growing up playing handball in NYC with her brother Jerome, Jade kept each checkpoint at the courts of multiple playgrounds.

Thank you to all the checkpoint workers and racers for your patience and willingness to make the night happen. Most importantly, for the donations collected so far that benefit Jerome. Thank you ladies for showing up for the femme field and doing your damn thing! We’re back at @nybikejumble for the autumn edition (2026!) Come check out our tables for new merchandise, some leftover products, select spoke card art, and limited garments. We’ll have printed BMA shirts, jerseys and socks, @slowsquad_intl caps, with some new designs, cycling caps from our friends @clinchbike and various bike components, tools, devices, from local messengers all under our canopy. The BMA kicked off August with a bikewash & goldsprints fundraiser, held at @eastriverbar, joined by our friends @twocrows.nyc selling delicious baked goods (sold out for more in demand!) and @messenger841

We had at least a dozen or two people come thru for a modest cleaning on the hot summer Saturday to the side patio, cleaning bikes with Muc-Off products, followed by evening sprints indoors. The last match of goldsprints was equal distant length of Kissena Veldrome, for participants to win their worth. Proceeds went to Jerome’s recovery, securing a community cargo bike, storage for community cargo, and funds back within the community for future events. Thank you so much for coming thru for a cleaning and/or competing, if not or in addition to saying ‘hi’, and purchasing from our vendors!

The BMA invites you to the fourth edition of summer standby. Get your camping gear loaded onto your bike, and meet us early Friday August 28th, around 8AM to catch the train to Poughkeepsie. From there we’ll ride 41 miles/82 kilometers, expecting to take 4-6 hours with breaks in between, arriving at Copake Falls Campgrounds. We’ll have a good time playing cards, hide-and-seek, touch grass, and opt from doomscrolling to look at a tree.

The BMA has free limited spots for up to seven (7) people, open to everyone, messengers and BMA members get first dibs. This is self-support, and you’ll be expected to carry what you can bring, including food and beverages, with places to load up before we camp for the weekend. We expect to return to the city Sunday or Monday, upon checking out from campgrounds late morning.
