Our Carmen in Bangkok ❤️🌹

Wonderful Ekaterine Buachidze brought all the passion, fire, and irresistible charm of Carmen to the stage during New York City Opera’s performance at the 28th Bangkok International Festival of Dance & Music.

As part of our signature program, Opera Goes to Hollywood, Ekaterine performed two of Carmen’s most iconic numbers - the seductive “Habanera” and playful “Seguidilla” - in an evening led and conducted by Maestro Constantine Orbelian.

A 2025 Operalia prize winner, Ekaterine is a remarkable young artist with a voice and stage presence that are impossible to forget.

We loved having her with us in Bangkok - and we think you’ll understand why. ❤️🎶

Greatest Composers | Giacomo Puccini

Giacomo Puccini (1858–1924) was one of the most influential opera composers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, known for music of extraordinary beauty and emotional power.

He composed some of opera’s most beloved works, including La Bohème, Tosca, Madama Butterfly, and Turandot, bringing intense human emotion, love, loss, and longing to the stage.

Born in Lucca, Italy, Puccini originally trained for church music before turning to opera after being inspired by Verdi’s Aida. His gift for unforgettable melodies and vivid characters made his works favorites worldwide.
