✨Faculty News: Katherine Gilger is having concerts around Iceland with her trio!

A program featuring international repertoire from Iceland, Canada, and the United States. Violinist Katherine Gilger, trumpeter David Dash and pianist/composer Michael Spiroff perform an evening of trio music featuring the world premiere of Michael Spiroff’s piano trio “What Light We Forget” written for this ensemble. The program will also feature Icelandic composer Jórunn Viðar’s Icelandic Suite for violin and piano.

Violinist Katherine Gilger is the Assistant Concertmaster of The Venice Symphony and performs regularly with the North Carolina Symphony and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.

David Dash is the trumpet professor at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, a member of The Venice Symphony and the Santa Fe Opera Orchestra, and also performs frequently with the North Carolina Symphony.

Michael Spiroff is a Macedonian-Canadian composer, music director, pianist, vocalist, and educator whose work has reached audiences across Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Iceland, and Australia. Based in Toronto, he has received commissions from festivals, ensembles, and solo artists, including Festival songe d'été en musique and the Long Island Guitar Festival, with an upcoming premiere with Sinfonia Toronto.

This Saturday, NYC Violin Studio will be providing entertainment at Chelsea Green Park’s Spring Block Party! We will have live performances, tables full of swag and assorted merchandise, and opportunities for attendees to try your hand at the violin! Come by the park between 10:30 and 2:30 and spend a beautiful Saturday afternoon with us!

PARENTS: At 1:30 pm, Jane Lee will be teaching a free kids group class at Chelsea Green Park (ages 3-8). Instruments provided. No advance sign up needed, but feel free to reach out with questions! 🎻🎶 taken in NYC Violin Studio by @nycviolinstudio
