POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Nyla Aquino and the SEC’s Black athletes aren’t changing for anyone. Today marks 61 years since the voting rights act of 1965 and two months since the NAACP called on Black athletes across the SEC to leverage their power against voter suppression.

While Nyla brings her authentic self to the floor for Georgia Gymnastics, she also faces reality as a Black woman in the heavily gerrymandered South. Dr. Amira Davis navigates the same reality, but as an Assistant Professor and Historian at the University of Texas. Together, they unpack what it means to perform, win, and survive in today’s America. Read now on The Guardian (link in bio). #votingrightsact #dei #gymnastics #blackhistory #naacp by @nyla.aquino
