younger me would be screaming if she saw me right now

I always wanted to learn how to ride and be around horses. When I was younger I watched all the horse shows and had all the horse stuffed animals but I had no idea where to go to actually learn how to ride. I was unaware of the places near me that taught lessons, then I realized it was too expensive for me, and eventually I forgot about my dream with horses.

Until I got to UNL. My sophomore year I was taking the same animal science class that everyone in the major takes, ASCI 101. We took a tour of the barn that I didn’t even know was in the building and I fell in love with the horses immediately. That very day I learned about the Equestrian Team and knew I had to join.

I’m so grateful that I found a community to teach me everything about horses. I wish I knew about it my freshmen year so I could have had more time because there is still so much I don’t know. But during my time I got to learn each horse and each horse taught me something about myself I didn’t know before. I also got to meet some new people that I can confidently say will be lifelong friends.

So, thank you to those that have been a part of my journey, both 2 legged and 4 legged. You have helped me grow into the person I am today and I couldn’t be more grateful.
