Sometimes your flow leads you to create the experience you want to see at home. 💙

As co-founders of VI Crawl (@thevicrawl), filmmakers, and performing artists, Khalarni Rivers (@khalarni) and Nyaila Callwood (@nymadeit) have built a platform centered around connection, culture, and experiencing the Virgin Islands in a fresh way.

Through their work, they continuously infuse authentic Virgin Islands heritage into modern media and are currently bringing stories to life through the first installment of their groundbreaking Folklore to Film series. 🎬

They are part of a new generation of Virgin Islanders turning creative ideas into experiences that bring people together, encourage exploration, and preserve our stories through a contemporary lens.

For their creativity, entrepreneurial spirit, and dedication to building experiences rooted in the Virgin Islands, we honor Nyaila Callwood and Khalarni Rivers as our 2026 Rising Stars Honorees.

Hey little me. We’re 30 now. 🥹
and I wanted to let you know that we became exactly who you wanted to be.

You’re an artist love. A designer. A storyteller. A filmmaker. Which honestly is not surprising to the girl who always had a camera, a mic or a scissors in her hand. It’s who we’ve always been.

So no, not marine biology. But we did get that degree and our favorite place to be is still the sea. We spent our birthday there. 😌

We started that non-profit. And we did it with that smart, ambitious, dark-skinned poet that you knew we’d meet.☺️

Purple is still our favorite color. 💜
And we still listen to Hannah Montana everyday. 😂

We stopped crying over everything.
We learned to put ourself first.
We embraced our weirdness.
Oh and we started those locs.

We had a few bad years because I lost you. And I’ve spent the last few years trying to get back to you. But we found each other and I promise I’m never losing you again.

There’s so much more I can say about our life. What we’ve done, the awards we’ve won, what we’ve gained and everything we’ve lost. Where we’ve been, who we’ve met & everything we’ve learned.

But I just wanted to let you know that we’re very happy. 😌

Our story is far from done.
But I love who we’ve become.
