The moon never asks to be understood. It just appears by choice, withdraws, then returns altered in a complete new shape, as if nothing ever needed explaining in the first place. I’ve been thinking about that kind of existence lately… how something can be constant without ever being the same, and how it can disappear without actually leaving.

I’m starting to come to the realisation that I can hold contradictions without needing to resolve them. I can feel both steady and uncertain, full and unfinished, grounded and somewhere else entirely. There’s a kind of discipline in staying with that tension, in not collapsing it into something easier just to feel in control. At the same time, something softer is emerging; a pull toward slowness, toward feeling things as they are instead of turning them into meaning too quickly.

The moon feels different to me now compared to last year, in a familiar way I can’t fully explain with words. It doesn’t rush itself, doesn’t try to stay full, and doesn’t resist fading. It just moves through its phases without questioning whether it’s enough.
I think I’m learning to do the same more these days and actually applying this into practise consistently again. I’m learning to:

🤍To let old parts of me disappear without panic. 🤍To let new parts arrive without forcing them into shape. 🤍To exist in between versions of myself without needing to name the transition.

Somewhere in that space in between of not being fully lit, and not completely hidden

Before & after of working on this portrait. For me the journey is way more fruitful and important than the outcome, always. I can’t believe this portrait took nearly a year to create!! 🦢You are allowed to become someone your suffering could never have imagined. When the underworld has finished teaching you, you may discover that the greatest transformation was never about defeating a monster. It was about reclaiming the parts of yourself you abandoned while running from one.

Why become the devil because the world has shown you its teeth when you can choose to remain conscious enough to understand his language, courageous enough to recognise his disguises, and wise enough to choose a different ending.

They called her difficult when she stopped making their discomfort her responsibility. They called her dramatic when she gave language to what everyone else had agreed to ignore. They called her dangerous when her presence disturbed the delicate rhythm of their denial.

Sometimes it feels like the world celebrates honesty until honesty demands accountability. According to Jungian psychology, the shadow contains aspects of ourselves we struggle to acknowledge, and projection allows us to locate those uncomfortable qualities in someone else. Sometimes the person who speaks plainly becomes the screen upon which an entire room projects its disowned feelings. This can be seen in how the truth speaker becomes the villain in a story written by those who cannot bear to question their own part in it.

Even so, why should we mistake other’s interpretation of us for the entirety of our being.

It is OKAY to feel misunderstood without becoming monstrous. You can be rejected without becoming unworthy. You can recognise cruelty without allowing it to colonise your heart. You can learn from criticism without surrendering your discernment to those who deliver it.

The highest expression of truth is not bitterness. It is integrity. You were never required to become the darkness you survived in order to prove that you could see it. It’s a treasure to be able to stay soft enough to feel whilst staying discerning enough to see things for how they are in h thee present moment without judgement of our emotions and feelings towards the situation.

What if your dreams could help you heal your trauma?

1. Your dreams speak in symbols.
Sometimes the mind expresses difficult emotions through images, places and stories that are easier to approach than the feelings themselves.

2. Recurring dreams invite curiosity.
Rather than asking, “What is wrong with me?”, ask, “What feeling does this dream bring back into my awareness?”

3. You don’t have to relive everything to begin healing.
You can explore a dream slowly, at your own pace, noticing what feels manageable and what feels overwhelming.

4. Your personal symbols matter.
A locked door, a storm or a shadow doesn’t have one universal meaning. What matters is what it evokes in you.

5. Bring the insight into waking life.
Journal, ground yourself, notice your emotional patterns and practise offering yourself the safety you may have needed in the past.

Your dreams aren’t a diagnosis. They’re an invitation to listen to your subconscious, mind and heart 🤌🏽🩵

♠️ Maybe I’m old fashioned or have we simply become too comfortable in a generation that rewards attention over affection, desire without devotion, and appearances over character.

I want the romance, the handwritten letters, the thoughtful gestures, the meaningful conversations that last until 3 a.m., the loyalty that doesn’t need an audience, and the kind of love that makes you feel safe without making life feel dull. I want people who understand that integrity is attractive, emotional maturity is seductive, and having a moral compass is far more impressive than having a thousand admirers.

No, old fashioned love doesn’t mean tolerating disrespect, romanticising suffering, or sacrificing your independence for someone else’s approval. It means having standards, honouring your word, treating people with dignity, and understanding that just because something is available doesn’t mean it deserves access to you.

We can be liberated without becoming indifferent. Sensual without being careless. Powerful without becoming cruel. And spiritual without abandoning our principles.

Perhaps the real rebellion isn’t becoming harder to love. Maybe it’s refusing to let a disposable culture teach us to treat one another as disposable.

🪢There will be days when you feel like you are walking through velvet darkness with your hands outstretched, trying to find the shape of the next doorway. There will be days when the water is so cold you wonder why the hell you stepped into it in the first place. There will be moments backstage when every ancient instinct in your body tells you to run. And still, eventually, the light still shines. The foot moves forward. The breath comes. The body remembers itself. The hand unclenches. And you realise that surrender was never about falling into nothing. It was about discovering that you could stop fighting the fact that you were already falling and begin to notice that, somewhere beneath the terror, there were wings you had not yet learned how to use. Perhaps that is the strange mercy of surrender. You do not get to know exactly where you are going. You do not get to control who stays. You do not get to rewrite every ending. You do not get to illuminate the entire forest before you walk through it. But you do get to become intimate with the person who walks beside you. Yourself.
