My father once told me, “You’re a wolf, baby! Act like it!”
And I couldn't because I was and am a panther. I knew that from the very moment he let me have his old trapper keeper. On it sat a black panther fierce and powerful! That's when I knew!

I am solitary by nature, and getting back in touch with that solitude has taught me that there’s power in getting passed over, even when it doesn’t always feel that way. There is a freedom in it that legitimacy will seldom get you.

You get to forge your own path without permission, and without the fear of what deviating or divesting could cost you—because you never belonged in the first place. You get to claim your own terrain.

Some of us had to learn how to walk away, and some of us had to learn how to discover or rediscover our power in being cast out: in being the solitary master of oneself. 🖤 by @nynnmah

I guess he feared like Icarus, I'd fly too close to the Sun, but it's not the Sun that I fear, it's not even Hell. It's being chained. It's being bound to a life that is not my own, because it's "safe", because it plays into the fantasy of belonging in a place that demands compliance.

I'd rather fall, I'd rather burn, perhaps the solar rays will melt the chains like the wax that bound Icarus' wings together. I'd rather have my ashes spread throughout like constellations in the night sky. At least I'll be free. Perhaps they'll tell stories, perhaps I'll become my own myth, but what matters more than even that is that I'll be free...
