Two sold-out shows, an arena full of people and the beginning of something much bigger.

Congratulations to @mojobrooks on kicking off his Outta Pocket Tour with TWO sold-out shows at Wintrust Arena in Chicago.

It was also the announcement of Mojo’s brand new Netflix special "I Know You Lying" coming October 6. Which was produced by myself, Mike Lavin @thehomelesspimp and Jason Nower @jason_nower

This is just the beginning, so congrats brother. Now let’s see how far we can take this.

Congratulations to Shane Gillis for shattering two Guinness World Records this past weekend at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.

- Most Tickets Sold for a Comedy Show by a Solo Comedian (77,047 tickets)
- Largest Audience for a Comedian (73,946 attendees).

We had the honor of being part of the crew documenting this historic night. It means even more knowing we were also there behind the camera for Shane's first special in Austin. Watching that grow into a night like this is a full circle moment we won't forget.

Congrats to Shane and the entire team. Excited for whatever comes next.

"A Bronx Tale"
If it was filmed vertically

Have you ever wondered what it would look like if "A Bronx Tale" was filmed for social media? Thanks to my producer @NYVideoGuy we turned the classic into a vertical social cut using AI generative fill to expand and reshape the frame without losing the soul of the story.

This is cinema meets social. It’s not just about cropping, it’s about reimagining how we tell stories today.

If you’ve ever watched a film and thought, “How would that look on my phone?” this is that vision.

How to light a 2 person interview side by side without one subject overpowering the other.

This calls for a different approach than a standard single subject setup. Some might call it flatter lighting, but when you've got two people in the same frame, matching and mirroring is really the only way to keep it balanced.

- Hair light on the right with a Godox TL60
- Hair light on the left with a matching Godox TL60
- Key light on the right through an Aputure 300x with a Light Dome Mini, and a mirrored key light on the left with the same setup.

Symmetry is the whole strategy here, whatever you do to one side, you do to the other. Save this for your next dual subject interview.

Congrats to @mojobrookzz for the release of his first Netflix Comedy Special. We all worked extremely hard on this and knew it would be an instant classic.

Not only did we produce the comedy special, but we also created a short film to promote the special. It was an incredible honor to work with some of the greats.

You don't need wired headphones to monitor audio on set.
Any pair of wireless headphones can do the job.

This is huge for run and gun shoots where you're moving fast between setups and don't want a cable tethering you to the camera or recorder, for solo shooters who need to walk the room while checking levels and for interview setups where staying wireless just keeps things cleaner and less cluttered on camera.

No proprietary cables, no fighting with a cord while adjusting gear. Just pair and monitor.

Save this one.
Are you still using wired headphones on set?

My most used piece of camera gear, hands down...
The Rhino Arc II motorized slider with a pan and tilt head.

I use it on interviews for subtle push-ins that add production value without pulling focus from the subject, on product shots for smooth reveals and parallax that make a still object feel alive.

Pretty much anywhere I want to add dynamic movement without a full jib or dolly setup. A motorized slider gives you repeatable, programmable moves.

Same speed, same path, every single take. Which is huge when a client wants revisions or you need multiple passes for coverage. It's the single piece of gear that upgrades a shot from static to cinematic faster than anything else in my kit.

Save this if you're on the fence about getting one.
What's your most used piece of gear?

Stop guessing your green screen exposure.
Here's exactly how I use false color on the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K to get a clean, evenly exposed screen while keeping the subject properly separated from the background.

My approximate IRE targets:
background around 25 IRE
hair light 55 to 60 IRE
key light around 65 IRE
fill light 50 to 55 IRE

The goal isn't just making the screen look green, it's even exposure across the entire frame while your subject stays properly lit and separated.

If you're shooting green screen, reading false color is far more reliable than judging exposure by eye.

Save this before your next shoot.
Are you using false color yet?

3 point lighting broken down in one of the smallest rooms I've had to shoot in for a corporate interview this week.

Key light and fill light both through Aputure 300x units with Light Dome Mini IIIs and a Godox TL60 as the hair light for separation.

Confined spaces don't give you room for error, every light has to earn its place and there's zero margin for a bad setup.

This is the exact system I fall back on when space is tight and the client is waiting.

Had an old set of venetian blinds lying around and turned them into a lighting tool.

Key light is a Godox PaletteLab SL200 RF with just a bowl reflector, angled 45 degrees down toward me. bare and harsh on its own.

Pulling the blinds in front of it does four things at once: adds texture to the background, diffuses the light, brings a subtle pattern onto my face and creates a heavily contrasted look.

One cheap prop, four completely different effects.

This is the kind of thing that separates a flat shot from something that actually feels intentional.

Save this, you probably have something like this collecting dust already.

What's the most random object you've used to light something?

Color performance matters. Make your films better with the Godox PaletteLab SL200RF🎨

By using multiple colored emitters, the SL200RF achieved a fuller, more linear spectrum for more accurate and natural color reproduction.

Because the right light gives your camera more to work with.
