Football brings people together, but good food keeps them around.
Good food. Great conversations. Football on the big screen.

I was at the presentation of the Italian Embassy Cup on behalf of the Chairman, Lagos State Football Association @hajjigafar on March 24, 2026. It was truly an honour to share the moment with distinguished personalities, including the Consul General of the Italian Embassy, the former chairman of the Lagos State Football Association @waidiakanniofficial and our very own Obafemi Martins @obagoal whose journey as a product of Italian football continues to reflect the deep-rooted connection between Nigeria and Italy in the development of the game.

This initiative represents yet another meaningful platform for the growth and advancement of football in Nigeria. It further strengthens the long-standing partnership between both nations - one that has consistently created pathways for talent development, knowledge exchange, and global exposure for Nigerian players.

It also highlights the power of sports diplomacy and international collaboration in nurturing young talent and unlocking new opportunities for the next generation.
In my usual fashion, I raised the important conversation around women’s football and the need for greater commitment and inclusion. I was pleased to receive assurances that similar opportunities and structured pathways will soon be extended to the women’s game, opening doors in the same progressive spirit.

I look forward to the success of this tournament and the lasting impact it will have on football development in Nigeria. taken in Lagos, Nigeria by @obagoal
