It was fantastic on Friday to welcome pupils from Birch Copse Primary School to Parliament for a tour. There were lots of really great questions about the history of the buildings and how Parliament works.

It is clear that in a number of communities across Reading West and Mid Berkshire, Royal Mail are failing to meet their service obligation for the delivery of letters, with residents telling me that they have missed medical appointments or that important personal documents have been delayed.

Royal Mail have so far failed to respond to the concerns that I have raised with them. So I have escalated residents’ concerns to OFCOM, who are responsible for regulating Royal Mail, calling for stronger action to make sure Royal Mail take these concerns seriously. by @obaileymp

That’s why I’m proud that this Labour Government is rolling out a specialist rape and serious sexual offences courtroom in every Crown Court in England and Wales by 2028, including right here at Reading Crown Court. by @obaileymp

🌳 Thank you to everyone who took the time on Wednesday to come and talk about anti-social behaviour in Prospect Park with @mattrodda_rdg, local councillors and me.

It was a helpful and constructive discussion, and I’m keen to support a new ‘Friends of Prospect Park’ group so that we can come together to look after this much-loved green space.

Great to meet Stephen King from Tilehurst, a @cr_uk campaigns ambassador and local fundraiser. Stephen walked 26 miles last weekend in London Shine Night Walk and raised nearly £1,500 for Cancer Research.

Yesterday evening, I met with the officers from the West Reading Neighbourhood police team in Dee Park, along with local councillors and community representatives. We met with local residents and discussed measures to tackle ongoing concerns with drug dealing and the illegal use of Surron-style bikes.

I will continue to work with the police and councillors locally on this issue as well as pushing for additional measures to crack down on these bikes in Parliament. by @obaileymp
