Reintroducing myself.
My name is Olivia Bernard, and I’m made of many parts. One of them is a photographer. But an artist first, always.
With that, I am returning to the fine art space, honoring why I picked up a camera in the first place. Somewhere along the way, I lost myself in the ‘business’ of photography, and it stopped serving me.
“You don’t take a photograph, you make it.” - Ansel Adams
From here on, my work is rooted in storytelling, emotion, and truth. By honoring myself, I create space for everything else and I hope you find parts of yourself in the art I make.

Last night, all I could say was gratitude. Gratitude for those that trusted in me and what I have to say in the work I create. Those that had such rich conversations surrounding my art last night. What makes this moment feel even better was the fact that this would not be possible without my community always showing up for me in different ways. Looking forward to what’s next but in the meantime, I’m looking forward to right now. Present tense. Grate-full in advance.

Capturing my two favorite DJs was like a warm hug that I didn’t think I needed at the time. I discovered DJ Mochi x DJ IGGY -collectively known as as Global Currency- back in 2023 when I first moved to Chicago in late 2022. I didn’t know that this night would change everything for me. I fell in love with the heartbeat of a dance floor that night and have been chasing that feeling ever since. Their friendship and shared language through sound remind me that creativity is a gift to be used for synchronicity, innovation, and a sense of understanding.
