🐜🦟🐛 Ants and mosquitoes and bugs, OH MY! 😂

Last night at 2:30 AM, I woke up to a whole army of mosquitoes in our Airstream. I spent the next HOUR hunting them down and protecting the kids from getting eaten alive. 😅 I’m pretty sure they were sneaking in through a tiny hole in our bathroom window screen, so I closed the window, and thankfully, the rest of the night was much more peaceful!

But seriously… if you have a MOSQUITO HACK THAT ACTUALLY WORKS, please tell me! 🙏 Not just a citronella candle. 😂 I’m talking tried-and-true ways to keep mosquitoes OUT of our Airstream. We need to figure this out, especially because there will be places on our journey where mosquitoes are more than just annoying little pests.

And this is the part of full-time travel that I want to be honest about. ❤️

There are annoying things. There are uncomfortable things. There are going to be some downright yucky things. 😂 Sometimes I worry that if I share all of those moments, people will think our trip is miserable or that we’re constantly dealing with problems. But that’s not the reality!

Because for every frustrating moment, there are SO many beautiful ones.

We’ve had incredible experiences, learned things we never would have learned otherwise, met amazing people, and seen animals we might never have had the chance to see. We’ve been pushed outside our comfort zones, grown as a family, and made memories that we’ll carry with us for the rest of our lives.

And we’re only 64 days into this adventure! 🤯

I’m sharing the messy moments, the hard moments, the hilarious moments, and the beautiful moments because this is real life. And even with the mosquitoes, the inconveniences, and all the little things we have to figure out along the way…

IT IS SO WORTH IT. ❤️🚐

I cannot wait to see what the next year brings our family as we continue our full-time Airstream journey around the world!

What does homeschooling look like on the road as we travel around the world as a family of 6? Well right now, it looks like this!

Since we currently have a kindergartener and a preschooler, a lot of the learning is done through playing! We are adding more sit down ‘homework’ for Edison to get that routine in, which invites his younger sisters to join, but our school is everywhere!
We are learning letters as we walk around town, we are learning street signs and traffic lights as we drive, we are taking photos of cool plants and bugs and researching what they are! We are cooking together, we read the Bible together, we set up and pack up the airstream together. The kids are cleaning up garbage everywhere we go and learning to care for the Earth! Everywhere we go is our classroom!
Our kids are learning so much of the things they need to learn in school and then some naturally in just a short time of being on the road, plus a perspective on life that most kids their age don’t have and this is only the beginning.
No I’m not saying our way of teaching is better than anyone else’s, but our kids are doing jussttt fine in the schooling department🥰

You saw what the ants were like when I thought I was doing the right thing (mopping before bed) here is what the ants were like when I did the WRONG thing (neglect the dishes in the sink).
Which do you think is worse? All the ants on the floor or all the ants in The sink? If you didn’t see the floor ants, check out my last post!
Either way, I’m pleased to announce we are going on 4 days ant-FREE! 🥹 I’d like to thank my husband and kids for believing in me through it all😍🙌🏻

Tell me you’re in SoCal without telling me 😅🌴🍊⬆️⛽️ we’ve been really enjoying this longer Harvest Host stay prior to entering Mexico. They let us eat / juice as many oranges as we’d like and it only costs us $15/night for water and electricity!! 🙌🏻

I’ve been able to work a lot on Let Them Live, Help Them Thrive, and Riveted Horizons stuff!

Sarah has been able to work on missions things for our caravan and already has our first longer stop planned in Mexico. She’s been teaching the kids a lot as well!

Ofie wrote her name and is practicing her letters, Edison is doing more with letters and sounds, Yo has been tracing shapes and finding colors, and August has started walking everywhere!!

Also, I took the diesel picture because we got it for cheap! 😭🤮 everywhere else in the area was $8.49 or higher - welcome to Cali haha taken in Southern California by @oberning1
