What inspired the design, @obi.harvey?

“Well, my good friend and baller, Mr. Leye, reached out after seeing our amazing work at Mercury Lagos. He said, ‘Harvey, I have this office space in VI. We’re a tech organization, and I’d like you to visit the space and come up with a concept for us.’

Then he added, ‘Oh, and by the way, I need you to sell your CV!’

Of course, I chuckled and replied with my rate card and the theme: ‘Redesigning the Office of Tomorrow.’

The goal was simple: to create a space where staff are happy to come in and slow to leave.

The location, right in the heart of Victoria Island, was a huge plus. We focused on maximizing natural light, an open-plan layout, and a soothing color scheme of sky blue, brown, white, and grey.

The result? A workplace that inspires productivity and innovation.

This sustainable Iconic tower proposed for The Airtel headquarters is a masters in environmental design project, this tower was inspired by the ‘paper planes’ as this is a universal symbol for communication, which has been interpreted in the building form. Due to the location which is in marina, Lagos island, a city-center, there presence of the green roofs and vegetation in the terraces as mediums used to soften the ‘Urban Heat Island’. As sustainable development is increasing practiced worldwide, this building tapers as it gets higher hence reducing the horizontal loads acting on the building, the edges of the building are round as well.
