“Homeless Things” comprises three series: “Homeless Plants,” “Homeless Body,” and “Homeless Ceramics.” The first is a series of photographs showing plants in places where they don't belong. Trapped, lost, alone, abandoned, dirty, broken… Their roots have nowhere to grow. Taken together, this sort of drift allowed me to explore my surroundings with a specific perspective. Nature in Uganda has much more space and prominence than in Europe, but even so, I found a certain nostalgia in these plants, perhaps because I saw myself reflected in them.

The first one is a series of photographs showing plants in places where they don't belong. Trapped, lost, alone, abandoned, dirty, broken… Their roots have nowhere to grow. Taken together, this sort of drift allowed me to explore my surroundings with a specific perspective. Nature in Uganda has much more space and freedom than in Europe, but even so, I found a certain nostalgia in these plants, perhaps because I saw myself reflected in them.

My artistic research was also anthropological and philosophical, and seeks to create in ways that are neither anthropocentric nor colonial (or, at least, tries!). On a more personal and intimate level, it also grapples with the grief of being far away when a catastrophe strikes and attempts to come to terms with inhabiting that limbo of being a visitor.

“Homeless Body” is a series of photographs where my body attempts to engage in a dialogue with decontextualized plants in a partially impossible way: we cannot understand each other with words, but we both know that, in some way, we are the same and in the same state.
