#AlvinLustig / Staff (House Organ for Look Magazine)
.
Alvin Lustig left sunny Los Angeles for the City that Never Sleeps, to work for Look Magazine as their Visual Research Director. It was in NYC that Lustig’s work completely broke free from the rigidity of his typographic experimentations.
.
Lustig experimented with color and form, employing the use of photography, hieroglyph, and handwriting to turn a standard, interoffice newsletter into a beautiful work of art.
.
They truly are wonderful (and large) and serve as the sketch pad for most of his future work—bridging the gap between his Frank Lloyd Wrightian typographic designs and the work he did for James Laughlin at New Directions and beyond.
.
.
Offered as a lot:
Issues #2-#7 (SIX) of Staff (1944-1945)
Issues 2-5 are marked in pencil ‘Quine’ (Joe Quine, a former Look employee) at the top right.
.
All issues are very well preserved / contact for purchase

The buildings included in this guide range from small residences to large commercial and industrial structures and they vary in type and appearance. The list is representative of the efforts in this region to produce building design consistent with our time and place, but it does not pretend to include all of the structures in the region that may be identified with the modern architectural movement.
