Thank you to everyone who joined us for our open house at Suffolk University this past week.

We loved getting to know you, building community, and sharing more about our work. From testing your OBOS trivia knowledge to taking on our website scavenger hunt, it was such a joy to spend time together.

We especially appreciated hearing about your experiences and how women and gender expansive people's health matters in our lives. Your stories and perspectives help us continue growing our resources to better meet the needs of our community.

Visit us at the new location of the Center for Women's Health and Human Rights! And keep your eyes peeled for details about our next open house in the spring. We hope to see you there!

Breast Cancer Awareness month has long been associated with pink ribbons in mainstream culture. Yet there is an underlying systemic problem with pinkwashing. All too often, the same corporations, government leaders, and regulatory agencies that use pink ribbons to bring awareness to breast cancers produce, sell, and/or promote products containing chemicals linked to the disease.

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Our Bodies Ourselves is calling for more than awareness. Following BCAction’s lead, we're calling for action to address the systemic factors that contribute to breast cancer and to hold institutions accountable.

Visit our website to learn more about pinkwashing and explore resources on breast cancer.

What influences a person's risk of developing breast cancer? The answer is more complicated than any single risk factor. Genetics, age, environmental exposures, and social and structural conditions can all play a role. And yet many of these factors are beyond an individual's control.

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Our Bodies Ourselves is drawing attention to the systemic changes needed to ultimately end this epidemic.

Visit our website to read the full article and explore more resources on breast cancer: www. ourbodiesourselves.org/subject-area/breast-cancer

Our Bodies Ourselves is honored to carry forward the legacy of Breast Cancer Action (1990-2024). BCAction named the breast cancer epidemic as a public health crisis and social justice issue. Following their lead, we demand attention to the environmental causes, racism, and capitalist greed that shape the breast cancer epidemic.
