POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
I never realised that the tiny yellow dot I was looking at in the night sky was actually Saturn.

It's fascinating how distance and unfamiliarity can make something extraordinary appear insignificant. Saturn was always a giant planet, but to my unaided eyes, it was merely a tiny yellow dot. It took a little curiosity and the Sky Map app to realise what I was looking at.

And this realisation gave me a beautiful human parallel: A lot of time we underestimate people, simply because we haven't discovered who they are, or what they're capable of. Sometimes, all it takes is a closer look. Will not elaborate on this more like the last post šŸ™‚ā€ā†•ļø

And may I never overlook something extraordinary just because, from where I stand, it looks small. 🄹✨

HALF A LOCK, HALF A KEY

Who would you save?

Break the lock, and you lose both the lock and the key. Cut the handle holding the lock, and you destroy the very thing keeping it in place. Break the lock, and the key becomes useless. Go looking for the key, and you might spend a lifetime searching for something you may never find.

Every choice comes at a cost. Sometimes, there is no option that leaves everything intact; there is only a decision about what we are willing to lose.

And perhaps this is where human nature reveals itself. We call it being practical, protecting our peace, or doing what is best for us. Perhaps that is why human beings can appear selfish, even when they believe they are doing the right thing.Ā

It isn't always that we don't care about what gets left behind.Ā  Sometimes, it is simply survival and our choices reveal more about us when we have no way of keeping it all.

Dance of Feathers

That's how I visualised them flowing through to the calming part of this song...

There are a few props missing from this scene, but that’s the thing about working at an ultra-macro level—you can keep changing the shutter speed, aperture, angle, depth of field… and every little change creates a slightly different version of the same moment.

There are just too many possibilities, and somehow the hardest part is knowing when to stop.

That’s probably why photographing the sky, the sun or the moon feels a little easier. You just wait, watch, and let nature arrange the scene for you.

With macro, you’re almost trying to prepare the scene yourself—and somewhere along the way, you might end up missing the little bit of magic that was already there.

So yes, ā€œNow We Are Freeā€ from Gladiator was the obvious choice for the music as I freed myself up from this cycle. But perhaps I’ll save it for the day I finally manage to bring all the right props together.

When two delicate selves came together...

And yet again, it took me almost a year to finally publish this and almost 8 years to find this cover song back !!!

Every now and then, I would come across this scene in my camera roll and think, maybe sometime later. And whenever that ā€œsometimeā€ arrived, I could never quite get the colours to look the way I remembered them when I made the image. Perhaps the scene existed a little differently in my eyes than it ever could on a screen. Glad that it came out that way today....

I wanted this butterfly to sit away from all those cluttered twigs, somewhere against a cleaner, more colourful backdrop. But after waiting for a while, I figured it was probably in the best interest of both of us to respect its choice and help myself out of this situation.

Maybe the frame wasn't what I had imagined. But perhaps it was exactly what they wanted.

Always somewhere,... but back to clicking you again.

Somehow, the moon has a way of pulling me back to the sky, even when I think I’ve had enough of photographing it.

It’s been a long time since I photographed a sunset.

There was a time when I could simply stand on the terrace and watch the sun settle down, slowly and almost effortlessly, with nothing much coming between me and the view. Then, over the last couple of years, the concrete trees started growing faster than the real ones, and their obstruction gradually pushed me towards photographing completely different subjects.

I remember there was a certain joy in waiting for these moments — watching the sun go down and hoping that one of my winged friends would decide to photobomb the frame. Somehow, even after all these years, one of them didn't let me down this time either, as you'll see in the third frame.

On the song front, Metallica's The Unforgiven II — ā€œNow I see the sun...ā€ — would have been quite apt. But this time, I feel like going with a song that I must admit I never really discovered on my own and would have ever. Somehow, my ears just happened to find their way to it.

Yeah, they were all yellow...

And then I noticed—not all of it actually was.

The flower takes up all the attention, the soft greens fade into the background, and this tiny visitor quietly comes and hangs beneath it, as if it had found its own little corner in a world of yellow.

Maybe every frame has its own version of a hidden story—something quietly existing beyond what first meets the eye.

It's interesting how scale changes our perception.

From a distance, it's just a patch of grass after the rain. Come closer, and a single drop becomes the subject, catching light, bending the world around it.

Maybe that is what I like about looking closely. Things don't necessarily become more beautiful; they just start revealing the beauty we were too far away to notice.

And just as I was wondering what song could go with this scene, I realized there were already two little drops happily sharing the same blade of grass—almost as if ā€œJust the Two of Usā€ was playing softly for them. taken in India by @observerofordinarythings

I always hesitate to put a portrait frame first in a slider (always save it for stories). This time, I thought, let’s give it a try.

Having said this a few times before, that the same photograph can carry a completely different feeling when seen from a different perspective. This one made me realise it again.

In the landscape frame, the squirrel almost feels like it has found a quiet little moment of solitude — sitting beside the fallen leaf, seemingly lost in its own world.

Turn the frame vertical, though, and the feeling changes. The same squirrel suddenly looks much more engrossed in what it is doing, almost as if the rest of the world has disappeared and there is nothing more important than that little moment of eating.

šŸŽµ ā€œRaindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Headā€ — B. J. Thomas

Just wanted a frame for this song. And somehow, you decided to pose for it.

Maybe the rain was falling and you were just waiting it out.
Either way, you looked like you had already made peace with it.

Perhaps some days, you don't fight the weather;
you simply let it fall.

šŸŽ¶

Raindrops keep fallin’ on my head,

but that doesn't mean my eyes will soon be turning red.

'Cause I'm never gonna stop the rain by complainin'

Because I'm free

Nothing's worryin' me

Aesthetics has its own double standards.

Had this been a butterfly, perhaps the same frame would have been greeted with ā€œbeautiful,ā€ ā€œmesmerizing,ā€ or ā€œmagical.ā€

But change the species, and suddenly the reaction changes too. I know some of you would probably scroll past this one with a little eeek! šŸ˜„

But to me, there was something strangely beautiful about it.

Lying there, almost motionless, with its delicate legs and impossibly long antennae stretched out, it looked less like an insect trying to escape and more like someone lost in a beautiful memory—revisiting a place it once knew, a moment it wasn't quite ready to leave behind.

Perhaps it was only resting.
.
Perhaps it was dreaming.
.
Or perhaps, for a little while, it simply forgot that it had to get up and carry itself away from my place.

Beauty, I suppose, is sometimes less about what we see—and more about what we're willing to see.

Can't believe I waited a year to share your second photo. July 19 , 2025 was the previous one...

It was always meant to follow the first. I thought I'd post it a few months later, but other subjects caught my attention... and before I knew it, a year had gone by.

And then, almost by chance, Š’ послеГний раз (For the Last Time) found its way to me. I don't understand Russian, but after reading the English translation, one line instantly brought this forgotten photograph back to mind:
"Time will pass, and you'll forget everything that happened."

Ironically, I'd almost forgotten this post myself.

So, for the last time... I bid adieu to this little subject.
