Congratulations to all the Great American Beer Festival® 2026 Winners! Presented by the Brewers Association (BA), the Great American Beer Festival (GABF) competition is the nation’s largest professional beer competition and the premier symbol of brewing excellence. This year, The Great American Beer Festival competition analyzed 7,267 entries over three days thanks to a panel of 225 professional judges and over 200 volunteers. The 2026 competition received entires from 1,300 brewers & cideries from 49 states, including Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico.

On Sunday, October 11, 2026, a total of 243 breweries and cideries took home 336 medals in this year’s Great American Beer Festival competition. 80 breweries from California were awarded medals. Five medals were to awarded breweries based in Orange County.

🥇 Doom Sludge by Green Cheek Beer Costa Mesa won Specialty India Pale Ale
🥇Nueve Grados by Riip Beer Huntington Beach won Mexican-Style Light Lager

🥉 Pazifik Coast Highway by Beachwood Huntington Beach won German-Style Pilsener
🥉Zombi Shark Fight by Green Cheek Costa Mesa won Italian-Style Pilsener
🥉Chance Favors The Prepared Mind by Green Cheek Orange won Imperial India Pale Ale

Beer Sensory and Flavor Recognition  Tuesday, August 4, 2026 7pm-9pm 
Develop your beer knowledge. Familiarization with common beer off flavors is an important key of beer education. Learn the basics of tasting beer, off flavors that arise in beer, and how to identify them. Test your senses with a blind tasting!
 Advanced Cicerone®️ Charlie Perez will host this interactive workshop. We’ll go over six (6) common off flavors.  
This is a good opportunity to learn more about beer and sharpen your senses. Geared toward professional beer industry members, home-brewers, and beer enthusiasts.
 Afterwards, stick around and mingle with the class.
 $15 for OCBG Members  $25 for non-members
 Limited seating. Please sign up:

🍻 Thank you to 1886 Brewing Co. for hosting the July OCBG Brewery Member Meeting!

Members enjoyed an interactive workshop, “Mexican-Style Lager Showcase: Blind Judging Techniques,” led by Advanced Cicerone ® Charlie Perez. The hands-on blind tasting provided valuable insights into evaluating Mexican-style lagers while encouraging discussion.

We appreciate everyone who joined us and helped make this month’s meeting such a success!

Huge thanks to 1886 Brewing Co. for the incredible hospitality (shout out Jeanae, Ashley, and Bethany) and to Charlie Perez for sharing his knowledge and making the workshop both educational and fun.

Honoring a Legend — Jason Jeralds | Tustin Brewing Company

Today we want to take a moment to honor someone who meant a whole lot to the Orange County craft beer community.

When we first got into this industry, there was an OG pioneer, One of Orange County’s First Brewery Owners who helped shape what OC beer is today — Jason Jeralds, owner of Tustin Brewery.

Jason was one of the first to truly build this community. He helped countless breweries get started, including us. Any time someone needed guidance, support, or a push in the right direction, he was there. No ego. No gatekeeping. Just love for the craft and the people behind it.

On a personal level, Tustin Brewery was one of the places where our kids were raised. It was a spot we could bring them, feel welcomed, feel safe, and feel like a part of something bigger. Jason built a business around community, love, and family — the kind of place that brings people together and sticks with you forever.

Sadly, Jason is no longer with us. And it’s devastating.

We want to send all our love, prayers, and support to Jason’s family, his kids, and the entire Tustin Brewery crew & family. They’re more than friends — they’re part of the fabric that makes this community what it is.

Please take a moment to say a prayer for Jason, his family, and everyone at Tustin Brewery.

Without him, Riip wouldn’t be here today. He will always go down as one of the true OG pioneers of Orange County craft beer, and his legacy will live on in every pint poured and every brewery he inspired.

Cheers to Jason — and to the legacy he leaves behind. 🍻💛

Orange County Brewers Guild hosts the 7th annual Brewers Mash showcasing local breweries in a festive Halloween-themed environment.
 Go “trick-or-treating” from decorated booth to decorated booth to sample local craft beers.

The night promises to be one to remember with a slew of entertainment including live music, magic, costume contest, tasty food trucks and great brews under the stars.
