September 18th 2025, a day we will never forget

After years and years of exploring, looking the horizon and thinking about the holly graal of the whale watching in french Polynesia, it finally happened.

Huge dorsal fins piercing the raging sea, the boat driven by @bubbles_diving shaken in the three-meter troughs, we get into the water without really believing it, when suddenly we look up and see enormous heads heading straight towards us on the surface.

Des orques, putain !!!!

I don’t believe there are perfect photos, but there are perfect moments, and capturing one is a kind of perfection: a suite of elements that makes it special.

This was one of those days. I was speechless watching this juvenile/almost adult humpback play with pilot whales for what felt like 10 minutes but actually lasted 2 hours. Spyhopping, turning upside down, the pilot whales doing the same. And to top it off, sperm whales passed below. Hearing their clicks was out of this world: a whale singing in the distance, pilot whales communicating, and a sperm whale below us.

Some moments can’t be captured in a frame. It’s a feeling. And whenever I look at these photos, I remember how it felt to be watched by nature. A dream day. Thank you, ocean

After a moment like this - I’m hugging anyone in my line of sight 🤗😂

I always tell people that join me in my expeditions that moments like this are hard to come by and they shouldn’t have high expectations but year after year and trip after trip we score. I don’t even know how can we be this lucky?!?

I am a firm believer that it comes from the energy of the group. Everyone has the most pure souls and had no expectations. This was their first day out on the water - the ocean blessed us 💙

- when she comes for a hug -

Back to our first day in the water here in Moorea with @globetrottingbaes and @oceanaddictmoorea (still can’t thank you enough 🙏), when we met this young female whale who completely won us over. She kept circling back, gliding towards us with what felt like pure curiosity, and at one point, came so close it almost looked like she wanted a hug.

Two unforgettable hours with her, most of the time just us and our boat, watching her play, breathe, and look straight into our eyes.

Māuruuru Pépite, I’ll never forget you. 🩵
