24 months ago I laced up some light up skates not knowing how much they’d change me…inside and out!I’ve fallen (hundreds of times). I’ve gotten back up. I’ve bruised. I’ve pushed past fear. I’ve done things I genuinely didn’t think I could do. And I still have so much more to learn!But the best part? The video for In My Head by @garrettthornmusic is out now! We shot this a year ago on a very sweaty June day, but had so much fun! So excited for all the music Garrett is putting out into the world, I know he’s worked so hard on it! Here’s his words about this song and video:“This video was the culmination of many talented people working together.My brother @ross.thorn has an incredible visionary sense in screenwriting so I called him one day last year and asked if he would help me put together a vision for a music video. We worked together to write the types of scenes and images we wanted to tell a visual story for the song “In My Head” over several sessions. Finally getting a detailed idea of a list of shots to capture one by one over coffee while he was in Nashville.We called up the band who I recorded the song with to cast them as roles in the scenes...@clarksingleton_ who Produced/Mixed the track and played bass on it as well.@cassandrasotos played violin and sang background vocals@jrredfordmusic played electric guitar and sang background vocalsBrandon Barnes played drums and percussion.I knew who to go to.I brought the band and the concept to @oceanna. She is a videographer, director, and incredibly gifted editor of all things video. Over a long, and extremely hot day in June, Oceanna led us through collecting the shots and edited them all together into what you see here. Oceanna took our idea and said “yes, and...” in the best way adding layers to our initial idea that were the perfect touch.The team hopes you enjoy the work.I hope you “love it.” We sure do... ... and if you do, please share it Full video on YouTube” by @oceanna

I had the pleasure of drawing @oceanna during my @whatnot stream!I appreciate that she uses her platform to highlight the stories, achievements, and contributions of Black people and other people of color in a way that feels engaging, accessible, and authentic. She helps bring attention to people and moments in history that deserve to be part of the everyday conversation, and I think that’s important.One thing I especially enjoyed was illustrating her with a camera. It felt fitting because she’s recording and sharing the full story. Not just a piece of history, but the broader picture that includes voices and contributions that are often overlooked. As an artist, I thought that was a fun and meaningful way to represent what she does.It was great bringing this character drawing to life and hanging out with everyone in the stream while It developed.
