Another awesome night of mystery and wonder with @aonyx_marine_experiences this full moon, as some of our ambassadors-in-the-making ventured out with torches and an awesome team of marine biologists to learn more about the incredible creatures that inhabit our rocky shores. In our latest educational session, the youth were addressed by some of the great masters in cinematographic story telling on the use of cinematography in telling potent and impactful conservation stories. The students were in awe of the heroic stories of diving into crocodiles’ lairs, swimming with sharks, whales and dolphins, and working in the face of massive waves. They were also inspired by the persistence it takes to follow your dreams and the importance of putting yourself ‘out there’, making connections and staying on your path. Personally, I was intrigued by the similarities in body language required on a public stage versus when dealing with characters like crocodiles and sharks; insights which will certainly be taken into our future #presentwithPower course.

How to use your voice to save the sea 🌊
Another wonderful presentation to a room full of beautiful young minds by our #AmbassadorsinAction this morning at St James Primary school. It is inspiring to see the growth and enthusiasm of our ambassadors as they strive to create life sustaining communities and positive impact wherever they go.
Once again, #marineprotectedareas was the focus of the day, and it is a pleasure to spread the positive news and benefits of these areas that are just on our doorstep.
Thanks to the dedication of our personal heroine, Dr Sylvia Earle and her foundation @mission_blue , we now have over 170 designated #hopespots across 115 countries world-wide. False Bay was selected for its extraordinary marine biodiversity and ecological significance and today was in celebration of how much beauty we have that is so worth protecting.

Woody Allen once said that 80% of success in life is about showing up and 20% is what you do when you get there. While showing up is clearly no issue for our #ambassadorsinaction the 20% in this case was a resounding success too.

As a further celebration of #MarineProtectedAreasDay, the #Voiceoftheoceansambassadors initiated a second presentation, this time to over 400 learners from Simonstown primary School.

What was so exciting to see is the significant growth in confidence from one presentation to the next. The ambassadors were clearly stepping into their voices, demonstrating incredible stage presence, voice projection, vocal variety and a sheer love of what they were presenting.

And it showed: the audience was mesmerised, engaged and attentive right throughout and the feedback we received from both the teachers and the pupils wanting to get involved was a testament to their resounding success.

Well done Ambassadors. You make us truly proud and the information shared was valid!

For the 9th year running, #Voiceoftheoceansambassadors partnered with @lamuseclassic , a for-women, -by-women’s longboard surfing event to raise environmental awareness among the youth and ensure that the event remains single-use plastic-free.
This time, we also partnered with an awesome organisation called @justasmallpiece , who provided us with upcycled bags, encouraging the surfers to collect as many pieces as possible of plastic over course of the weekend. The plastic items were then sorted and counted with staggering results: Collectively, we picked over 2200 pieces of plastic, of which food wrappers, cigarette butts, and microplastics were the overwhelming majority.
The ocean is our healer, our playground, and our muse. Every little item we remove from these shores has the potential to save lives and keep our beloved beaches clean. If every single person were to remove #threeforthesea every time they visit the beach, the collective efforts would be outstanding – and you might just catch the wave of the day for your good karma 😉 @mission_blue @oceanfamilyfoundation @dawnpatrolwines #hopespots #letstalkmpas taken in Surfers Corner by @oceanpledge

To celebrate #MarineProtectedAreasDay, the #Voiceoftheoceansambassadors had an incredible opportunity to present to a school of approximately 500 learners.
Through an engaging presentation, learners discovered what MPA’s are, why they are important and how young people can work together to protect our oceans.
Thank you to everyone who participated. Together, we are building a generation of ocean guardians!

We are so excited to begin a next round of our #VoiceoftheOceans Ambassadors course at Simonstown @stslawhillmaritime . This was the first of 9 #presentwithpower speaking sessions where the youth learn the skills and confidence to become the voice for the creatures of the ocean that don’t have one. Coupled with this course is exposure to thought leaders in marine conservation- hearing from scientists, NGO’s and organisations on the ground tackling climate-related issues. And of course, to build passion, we offer various adventure-based learning opportunities whereby the youth get to immerse themselves in the great African sea forest and see with their own eyes what’s worth protecting 🙌🏽 Thanks to @oceanfamilyfoundation , @dawnpatrolwines and @mission_blue for enabling this initiative by @oceanpledge

In training for #marineprotectedareasday , our #voiceoftheoceans ambassadors got to experience the beauty of #MPA ‘s first hand by kayaking through some of #tablemountainnationalpark secret underwater reserves. One of the ambassadors were inspired to create this video summarising their experience. happy Marine Protected Areas Day to everyone. 🌊 Paddles up, minds open! Ahead of #mpaday activities on 1 August, Ocean Pledge gave our #ambassadorsinaction a training day like no other.
We started with adventure-based learning: kayaking straight into a Marine Protected Area with @kayakcapetown_simonstown and @caperadd . Every glance revealed another layer of biodiversity, a reminder of just how much biodiversity and life these False Bay waters are quietly protecting.
Back on dry land, we dove into the classroom side of things with @aquariumfoundation, covering:
🐠 What MPAs actually are
🌍 Why they matter more than ever
⚠️ The challenges they’re up against
🤝 How each of us can help protect them
@guardiansofthedeep.oceanlegacy also stopped by to share some exciting MPA Day activities we can get involved in.
One fun, fully immersive day of learning, and we’re already counting down to the global MPA Day celebrations next week.

Sharing a #worldoceansday2026 community dinner, we were reminded by the head of #twooceansaquariumfoundation, Ann Lamont, that we are not just custodians of any place- we are custodians of the Oceans at the Southern Tip of Africa- a home to magnificent species diversity, the great African Kelp Forest, and the great mother who caters to so many of our needs ranging from food, to transport, climate, recreation, religion and spiritualism. We have so much to be grateful to her for. Yet, her waters are changing; her chemical balance is out of sync; species are no longer as they once were. Now, more than ever before, we need to change our narrative of the ocean as the absorber of all our sins; we need to welcome indigenous knowledge of the past if we are to move harmoniously into the future; realising that we are not separate from the ocean, but part of the same, living, breathing entity as she. Now is the time in which all voices must be heard; we are all stakeholders in the health of our planet and the ocean resources and it is only in the coming together of all sectors of society that we will be able to reimagine a future in which our ocean can hold the regenerative power to create a health, prosperous future for us all. #falsebayhopespot2026 #missionblue by @oceanpledge
