Growing up in the Dominican Republic, “pelo malo” was a phrase we heard used for curls like ours. So many of our hermanas grew up hearing it too, learning to see their hair as something to tame or fix before they ever had the chance to define it for themselves.

This Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re changing the words we pass down. We’re leaving “malo” behind and giving every hermana the space to finish the sentence on her own terms.

Pelo _____. The word is yours. 💚

Amanda’s pelo es único. 💚
