The Trouble With Finding Your Dream Life
At 52, I’m watching some of my biggest illusions fall away—and discovering that there is something strangely liberating about what remains.

I wrote about moving from Paris to the US, yoga, money, disappointment, aging, and what happens when you stop trying to make the life you imagined actually happen.

The Trouble With Finding Your Dream Life.

Maybe maturing is not the distance from where you started. Maybe maturing is the depth of your return.

The spiral does not erase your past turns. It gathers them. It weaves them inward. Each detour becomes part of the architecture of your center. Each apparent failure becomes a guidepost.

You were never meant to live along a straight line.

You were meant to wander.
To question.
To burn out and wake up.
To leave — and come back altered.

You were meant to spiral. To grow wider in experience and deeper in presence.

If your life has curved away from what you once imagined, consider this:

You are not behind.
You are not broken.
You are not off track.

You may simply be tracing the ancient pattern — the one etched into stone, into sand, into your own nervous system.

Leaving. Learning. Spiraling. Returning.

And somewhere beneath all the turning, the center has been waiting — steady, patient, always yours.

Hi everyone — it is with a heavy but hopeful heart that I’m sharing this.
Some of you know that six months ago I rescued my dog Emmy from South Korea. Emmy is the sweetest soul I have ever met — a very gentle 6–7 year old Belgian Malinois who survived the Korean dog meat trade before being rescued by K9 Global Rescue. After years of trauma and neglect, Emmy is finally safe and deeply loved, but her past left her with serious medical issues. She is suffering from severe hip dysplasia, mobility pain, possible Addison’s disease, and heart complications. I am now facing urgent veterinary expenses including specialist consultations, sedated X-rays, surgery, and rehabilitation care to help give Emmy the quality of life she deserves.

I normally struggle to ask for help, but I would do anything for this dog.

If you are able to donate — even a small amount — I would be incredibly grateful. Every contribution will go directly toward Emmy’s medical care and recovery. Thank you so much for reading and for helping me give Emmy the peaceful and pain-free life she has fought so hard to reach. ❤️
