I slowed down a little bit this month, mainly because I'm also reading IT with my cousins and sister and that is one long book, hopefully will be done before the end of the year.
On August I finished 8 books, very different ones: from the Classic (for a reason) The Lord of the Flies, which talks about how easy humans can forget civilization, to the very strange third book from the Southern Reach series Acceptance (which you may remember Annihilation, adapted as a movie featuring Natalie Portman), passing through the Secret Crusade which is the novelization of one of my favorite games of all times Assassin's Creed and another old book about eldritch horrors like The Great God Pan from Menchen, which I didn't love, but liked better than Lovecraft.
My favorite book of the month was "The Air War" by Adrian Tchaikovsky which is the 8th book of the Shadow of the Apt Series (just 2 more to go) and the debut model of Jesse Aragon "The Demon Star" that I would describe a rare mixture between Dune and Hellraiser.

Here is the list of the 8 books:
1. The Demon Star by Jesse Aragon
2. Spiderlight by Adrian Tchaikovsky
3. El Gran Dios Pan: Y Otros Relatos de Terror Sobrenatural by Arthur Menchen
4. Defiant by Brandon Sanderson
5. The Air War by Adrian Tchaikovsky
6. The Secret Crusade by Oliver Bowden
7. The Lord of The Flies by William Golding

Better late than never. I read 10 books in July (granted one of these book is a really short one, but I'm reading IT so they balanced out).
This month, my favorite book was non-fiction which is rare. The Empire Of Pain is a great book about the family partially responsible of the opioid crisis and if you read it, I guarantee that it will make you angry, it just never ceased to impress me the amount of things we as a society let rich people get away. I also read another work of non fiction in Everything is Tuberculosis which in addition to make you angry will make you sad. I think this is a good book if not comprehensive that will spark your curiosity about this deadly disease.

On a better note I also read the Everlasting which again goes against my normal readings, and surprised me with a excellent story about romance and time travel, definitely recommended.

Here are the 10 book I finished this month:
1. Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince by J. K. Rowling
2. Everything is Tuberculosis by John Green
3. Lock Lamora and The Bottled Serpent by Scott Lynch
4. The Everlasting by Alix E. Harrow
5. La Biblia de los Caídos: Tomo 2 del Testamento de Mad by Fernando Trujillo
6. Empire of Pain by Patrick Radden Keefe
7. This Is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone
8. Destiny's Edge by M. L. Wang
9. Lux by Brandon Sanderson and Steven Bohls
10. El Horla by Guy de Maupassant by @ocr_obedrocha

I wrapped my birthday month with 9 books read, for a total of 49 in the year, so one book short to be on schedule for 100 books this year.
The books this month included 2 for my Book Club: Penance from Kanae Minato, there is a TV show based on this one and a movie about her other book Confessions which I recommend you watch if you don't feel like reading. The other was El Cielo de la Selva which mixes horror with magic realism for a good book that will mess with your head.
The best book of the month goes to The Justice Of Kings, about a traveling judge that delivers justice with the sword in a world that is trying to go back to chaos an anarchy, while he insists the laws are upheld. Good stuff, would make a great movie IMO.
I finished the Licanius trilogy, that gives a masterclass on time travel and makes you question about if free will exists if all events seems to be predetermined. Not an easy read, and takes time to love the characters but if you are patient you are in for quite a ride. Lastly I want to mention my Stephen King book of the month, The Running Man, way different book than both movies, must read material if you like bleak dystopias. We are not that far away if you ask me.
Here is the list of the 9 books I read:
1. The Justice Of Kings by Richard Swann
2. Heirs of the Blade by Adrian Tchaikovsky
3. Devil of the Deep by Falencia Jean-Francois
4. The Light of All That Falls by James Islington
5. Penitencia by Kanae Minato
6. Our Sister's Keeper by Jasmine Holmes
7. El Cielo de la Selva by Elaine Vilar Madruga
8. The Running Man by Stephen King
9. The Builders by Daniel Polansky by @ocr_obedrocha

May was a good month for reading as I was on vacations and was able to sneak reading time while on the road and also a lot of hours listening audiobooks while I was doing some ultrarunning. 9 total books.
If I would recommend something out of this month list it would be both Parable of the Sower and Parable of the Talents from Octavia Butler, which give you a scary glance to our future but also and optimistic one down the road. Death of the Author was also great as it is a book inside a book and it was done masterfully in my opinion, still not sure which one I liked the most. The Sea Watch keep confirming Tchaikovsky as one of my favorite authors. just 4 more books to go from this epic series.
Anyway, here is the list of the9 books I read:
1. Parable of the Talents by Octavia E. Butler
2. Death of the Author by Nnedi Okorafor
3. Con Amor, Mamá by Iliana Xander
4. The Sea Watch by Adrian Tchaikovsky
5. To Bargain with Mortals by R. A. Basu
6. La Biblia de los Caidos. Tomo 3 de los Testamentos del Gris y Sombra by Fernando Trujillo
7. Platform Decay by Martha Wells
8. Saturn Returning by Kim Narby
9. Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix by J.K Rowling by @ocr_obedrocha

April came and went and I was able to knock out 7 more books.
From a classic from Stephen King like Misery, to Historical Fiction like He Who Drowned the World and Burn the Sea, I think this was a great month were I liked pretty much everything I read. If I had to recommend one, I think it would be The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, which is my first Schwab book and left me wanting for more, and I can see people from different tastes liking this book if you give it a chance. It made me think how I would live my life if everyone forgot me the instant I'm not with them anymore, it would be quite a dreadful existance, at least for me, but I think I could manage eventually, maybe...
Anyway, here is the list of the 7 books I read:
1. Misery by Stephen King
2. He Who Drowned the World by Shelley Parker-Chan
3. The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V. E. Schwab.
4. Wayward Souls by Susan J. Morris
5. Burn the Sea by Mona Tewari
6. El Muro (The Wall) by John Lanchester
7. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K Rowling by @ocr_obedrocha

March was a busy month so just 8 book for me. I read really good dystopias like Parable of the Sower which I recommend, as it looks like it was written yesterday no 20 years ago and Tender is the Flesh which makes you question the food that comes to your table. I continued with my Dark Tower Journey with The Wizard and the Glass and read some really interesting historical fantasy in She Who became the Sun, it's like Mulan but with way more blood. Worst book so far in the year goes to Black as a Diamond, I really did not enjoyed anything of this book, but not everything can be a 5 star. This is not a Test will be a movie soon, but we warned that it is aimed at teenagers and you may really dislike the protagonist if you are over 30.
Here is the list of the 8 books I read:
1. Cadáver Exquisito (Tender is the Flesh) by Agustina Bazterrica
2. She Who Became the Sun by Shelley Parker-Chan
3. The Dark Tower IV: Wizard and Glass by Stephen King
4. Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler
5. This Is Not A Test by Courtney Summers
6. Recipes for an Unexpected Afterlife by Deston J. Munden
7. Black As Diamond by U.M. Agoawike
8. The Getaway by Jim Thompson by @ocr_obedrocha

Last week I decided that the best way to train for this week 4 Hyrox events was to run a 5k + 10km + Half Marathon one after the other on trail. Was it smart? No, Was it fun? I guess. Am I going to do it again? You bet. Life is too short, try your body and push your limits, have stories to tell when you are old(er). by @ocr_obedrocha
