‘The Rotten Heart of the Alder’ - sennelier watercolors, Saunders Waterford 100% cotton watercolor paper, black acrylic ink w/ dip pen faber castell India ink markers, color pencils, piling rep w/ nicker poster paint, procreate w/ iPad Pro.Feldar discovers what’s at the heart of the memory he’s been trapped in - and what’s in the heart of the alder tree..I must’ve did 20 thumbnails for this 🫠 it needed to be just right or my god it could’ve looked real stupid. but I’m happy with the result! I especially love the strings, which I did with a ruling pen and nicker poster color paint - a method I WILL be employing again, because weird red strings are the most recurring image in this book besides magpies.This was the chapter illustration I was perhaps most worried about but I like it! ‘ A Long Ways to Go’.Had a hankering to draw Moth for the 8 thousandth time. She’s had a rough time of it in Pineland but at least Agate made sure she was dressed wellAnyways I’m improving at digital art at long last and I’m so relieved.Bit of a palate cleanser after the last post! ‘Rabbit in a Trap’.Balwin Okat recounts a childhood memory to Moth in chapter 120 of The Ferryman (my original story, free to read - link in bio).Foot Splitting is a practice performed by shamans - ideally when they’re young because it’s easier, but most common in adults who’re more devoted to shamanism. An excruciating, months long process with years of recovery, it leaves the feet split in two, faintly resembling a bird foot.
