hey yall ❤️

im happy to announce the release of the 2nd installment in my ODD self released series - ODD 002, under my label @prima_material

ive spent a fair amount of time at clubs and festivals this past year after moving to london and felt inspired to make some tunes that were built for that setting based on the music ive been into. im confident to say these are some of the best tunes ive made so far for that purpose and im happy to finally put them out there.

special thanks to @madelic_ @amaliahppeche @______suchi______ @pearsonsound @grenco_dj @fieldmotionn and anyone else I may not be aware of that showed early support on these tunes - means the world! ❤️🌍

Mantissa Mix 386: Odd Familiar

"encompassing a snapshot in time, this mix captures some some of the tunes I've been enjoying the past few months up to the new year after being inspired by sets & events that are focused on a tech house/minimal sound, echoing a more recent take on some of my newer productions. I dont record mixes often, let alone play out nowadays so the way this came together was quite organic and I appreciate Mantissa for being patient with me on sending it over - cheers to them <3"

Origins Tapes 157 - Odd Familiar

👉 Head to the link in bio to listen

Originally from Canada and now based in London, Odd Familiar aims to create a sound that feels familiar but unique in its own right—something that resonates instinctively while offering a fresh perspective. He continues to shape and evolve his style, guided by shifting inspirations and personal experiences that inform both his production and DJ sets, and he joins us for Tapes #157.

His music draws from a wide spectrum of electronic subgenres, including UK Techno, House, Bass, Dembow, and others, resulting in a sound deeply rooted in groove and rhythm, yet open-ended in direction. His latest release, ODD 002, on his own label Prima Material, received support from respected artists such as Pearson Sound, Amaliah, SUCHI, and others. by @oddfamiliar

asia!!! you were the best

first slide is me playtesting an unreleased tune - special thanks to @entershibuya @eggsygb for giving the opportunity to play in tokyo, what a pleasure❤️

2nd/3rd slides are some clips of my tunes being playing in a cave in vietnam by @dtiff_ , what a moment 🥹 special thanks to @equationfestival for holding it down and creating such a special atmosphere at that side of the world, to the lovely hanoi crew and new friends made along the way.

the rest of the slides is my trip in order with some very special people and moments in it (not everyone/everythinng pictured).. so grateful I could experience this and looking forward to coming back soon

hello :) im excited to finally release these tunes as part as the first iteration my other fun lil self released series under @prima_material , the ODDIT edit series.

every release in this series will always be available for free download on my bandcamp and this first iteration consists of a few acapellas which I love and tbh id never would of thought of using a playboi carti acapella like this but ayo lets get it

appreciate the early support from everyone who played these tunes out multiple times since I sent them out in august but now they can be free for everyone to enjoy ❤️

you can stream the tunes on my soundcloud or bandcamp and download them for free on bandcamp. they will not be uploaded to other streaming platforms like spotify.

ODD 001 - the first project in my new ODD self released series is now available on soundcloud and bandcamp. It has 4 tracks - the A side are moody prog house inspired tunes and the B side is more inspired to be on the minimal tech side of things.

I completed these tracks around spring/early summer this year and played them out a few times as well as some other ppl showed them support early (thank you 💕💕) I decided it only made sense to release them to be apart of my tunes in 2023.

this series also marks the beginning of my own personal project/label thing - Prima Material which is based on Alchemy. Alchemy is a philosophy and process I delved into shortly after I started making music 8 years ago, both which have contributed to my life journey and evolution as a person. You can read more about my direction with this on @prima_material
