🎨🎂 The super awesome and fantastical works of my good friend Mike Dubisch (born September 19, 1971)! He is an American illustrator, comic book artist, and professor (at the Academy of Art University) known for his contributions to horror, science fiction, and dark fantasy art.

He has worked extensively within the Lovecraftian genre including illustrating The Shunned House, The Colour Out of Space, and The Call of Cthulhu, his works have been featured in numerous publications, including Star Wars, Dungeons & Dragons (including artwork and figure design), Classics Mutilated, Aliens vs. Predator, Frank Frazetta Fantasy Illustrated, High Times, Heir to Fire, I Am A Barbarian, Palladium, Strange Aeons, The Creeps, IDW’s Zombies vs. Robots, Professor Dario Bava: Orgy of the Blood Freaks, and Forbidden Futures (a speculative fiction magazine he co-founded with Oddness). He is also the creator of The Crypt Kid, Weirdling, The Wet Nurse, and the artist of The People that Melt in the Rain and Mystery Meat comics. He is the author/illustrator of Gothic Nightmares and The Earthlings, and the poetry journal Inhumanskin. —Oddpedia

📚 Still basking in the lingering glow of L.A.con V! Five long days of deep conversations somehow flew by in a whirlwind of meeting new readers and making new friends.

Slinging books alongside @goodfellowcody @joshuaskywriter @cool_stuffman and @jd_who_dat_banks made the con an absolute blast. My neighbors @meganhaskellauthor and @rachaneelumayno made the journey even richer with their wonderful company.

It’s always a pleasure reconnecting with old friends like @marc_laidlaw_music @concentrateandtryagain @matthewmedney and John Astruda and making new ones like @kristengorlitz @eric_j.guignard @alexander.phoenix @denniskcrosby @ellen_datlow @nytebird45 Su Chen and @michael.ravine

Truly an honor to meet Robert Silverberg and chatting with him, only to be later also being shooed away by George R. R. Martin’s beefy and rude security.

Thank you all for the killer memories! Now, on to the next adventure down the road: Rose City Comic Con!

💥 Life is a adventure, and the people you bring along on your quest help define the destination. Every year, San Diego Comic-Con is an opportunity to reconnect with old friends, make new ones, and celebrate the incredible creativity of our community.

A sincere thank you to everyone who stopped by our weird little stand, picked up one of our books, or simply took the time to chat with us.

As always, the cosplayers bring an extra layer of magic to the convention.

A special thank you to the folks who joined us at the Oddness/Forbidden Futures outpost and helped make this year’s SDCC adventure such a success!

“Nah, ordinary Animas. One was an old chicken fellow who had been working as an usher at the ArcLight for twelve years. His name was Barry,” he sighed.

“Stan scratched at the red mark on his skin. It was one of many small scabs that had been bothering him for the last few days. A minuscule, amber-crusted sore that bordered his left thumbnail. Carefully, he picked, picked, picked at it. Jimmying a fingernail beneath, so it could be pried apart, sending a slight shock of pleasure-pain. He took the hardened piece of skin and blood, crushed it between two fingers, splitting it in two so he could examine what was inside. “Please, stop that,” a voice urged.”

“The thing about cannibals is that they’re assholes. First off, they can’t be negotiated with. They’ve got no honor. And eating people? Really? I’d sooner starve… which might explain why I’m starving. All. The. Time.

Honestly, I just can’t bear the thought of taking a bite out of someone. Call it pride. Call it my attempt at holding onto what little humanity I’ve got left. But, no thanks. I’m good. For now, anyway. Things might change. Not gonna lie, it’s pretty dire out here.

Problem is—cannibals are everywhere, and people like me, you’re normal, everyday, eat anything but another human being, kind of a gal, is that we are becoming so damn rare. But at least I’ve got one thing on my side:
