My great aunt Von turned 100 yesterday. 🌹
Born in Java in 1926, she spent her teenage years in West Papua before fleeing to Holland after WWII. She’s lived in Australia since the early 80s.
She used to own a flower shop, so for her birthday we gave her 100 roses, one for each year. The second image is me with Von, my mum (Jill), and Oma (Cora). by @odessa_devries

Wow I feel so privileged to have experienced the Indonesian Art Study Tour 2026, an initiative of the Australia Indonesia Art Forum, organised by @project11foundation and @16albermarleprojectspace the days were long and some called it “art boot camp” but it was 💯 worth it to meet so many artists sharing such moving political and environmentally minded works. My participation in this tour was partly supported by Sunshine Coast Council RADF by @odessa_devries

Embers, oil paint on canvas, 175 x 200cm

This one was fun to make, but I wasn’t totally happy with it when it came back from the framers so I started covering it in fluorescent oil sticks and just kept going. The colours bleed into each other which makes it tricky to photograph properly, but @christinehallphotographer did a brilliant job of it in the first pic.
