Button soup. Had the most inspired afternoon at @craftraccooncbus ! New favorite place in the Midwest. Craft reuse stores hold treasures that truly are unlike anything you can find anywhere else. Wonders everywhere. by @oestequilt
Sweet little details for a sweet little baby. by @oestequilt
A ribbon star quilt for one of my favorite people 🌟 by @oestequilt
“Love you bigger” is something my sister and I would say as kids unable to hold the enormity of the word “love” in itself. I stitched this here as a reminder that love can always grow. Some infinities are greater than other infinities, after all. For my mom ❤️ by @oestequilt
“I’ll say it- I don’t like this quilt. It’s not what I wanted it to be and it does not feel like a ‘happy accident’. Maybe you disagree with me and maybe you agree but want to make me feel better by lying to me about it, but this is no space for platitudes.” Read my article, “In Defense of Bad Art” on Substack! This piece made me grow for the better and I’m grateful for it. The Substack is now live in my Bio! Yay, long-form content! by @oestequilt
Another tiny quilt for a tiny person❤️ learning to cut on the bias and play with bold colors. by @oestequilt
Playing with simplicity. 🐅 by @oestequilt
Needed to share this #hannahpant from @thesampleroom_ ! This was a sewing challenge for #memademay to upcycle something into a Sample room pattern. These @bed.threads sheets were worn to the bone and now they will live on as the perfect summer pants. Added a little patch pocket with my latest ribbon star lino cut for a bit of whimsy. ❤️ by @oestequilt
Whoever said geometry is unnecessary was obviously not a quilter. This one was made with so much love for a special friend who just welcomed her first baby! 🌙 I saw this design on an old vintage quilt on Pinterest and reverse engineered the pattern (did way too much math for this one, ya’ll). by @oestequilt
Inspiration: The @sjmqt had an amazing exhibit on weaving. This exhibit comes at the 20-year anniversary of the Schlein and Ziek’s book, The Woven Pixel: Designing Jacquard and Dobby Looms using Photoshop. The book describes how to use different weaving techniques to create digital images. Intersections can be seen as single pixels, and magic above my understanding can translate code into woven pieces. It was the birth of digital weaving, the integration of technology into an ancient craft. by @oestequilt
