The Direct Line: Usually, bosses, ceo's and big rap bosses have enough buffer layers so nobody can tie them directly to a trigger. Vonnie broke all of that. He was Durk's right-hand assistant, so him testifying that Durk was handing out orders, storing the weapons in his own house, and watching the aftermath video puts the federal charges directly in Durk's lap.

What Landed Him in Court: Duane "Keefe D" Davis was arrested on September 29, 2023, following years of self-incrimination. Rather than new forensic evidence, the case was reopened primarily due to Davis’s own public admissions. In multiple media interviews (including VladTV) and his 2019 memoir Compton Street Legend, Davis bragged about being the "shot-caller" in the white Cadillac during the September 7, 1996 drive-by shooting in Las Vegas of rapper Tupac Shakur  Duane "Keefe D" Davis believed he had immunity. In 2008, Davis signed a federal proffer agreement with the LAPD and federal authorities while facing unrelated drug charges. Under this proffer, he provided details about the murders of Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G., believing the agreement granted him absolute immunity from prosecution. However, proffer agreements typically protect statements made during that specific interview—they do not grant blanket immunity for future public confessions, media and appearances.
