This marks the beginning ahead of the Abiade Adire Festival coming up on November 15.

They say style is timeless, but I believe style is ageless.

Today, I had the distinct pleasure of honoring an invitation from Abíádé @abiadeadire to attend the Adire Hangout at the serene Succoth Garden in Ilorin by the riverside.

He promised an exclusive preview of the magic being woven for the Abíádé Adire Festival coming this November 2026, and it did not disappoint.

I’ve come to appreciate that our indigenous attires aren’t just fabric; they are stories. Adire, the traditional indigo-dyed textile born from the Yoruba people of southwestern Nigeria, speaks a language of elegance that no imported suit can replicate.

The afternoon was a perfect blend of nostalgia and new connections. Surrounded by the riverside breeze, I connected with old friends, made new ones, and we shared laughter over games and delicious indigenous foods (Ekuru, Eko, moimoi, beske, native rice, Amala washed down with palm wine and mocktails) brought by guests. It was a vivid reminder that our culture is vibrant, social, and deeply rooted.

To the lovers of Adire, and to the gentlemen who understand that true style has no age limit, mark your calendars. The Abíádé Adire Festival this November is where we will celebrate the magic of our heritage.

Let’s keep our culture alive. Let’s wear our pride.
