POSTS STORIES REELS
The World Culture Festival – Karachi 2026 presents, one more show of ‘Rukhsati’ on audience’s popular demand, a romantic comedy play from UK, that showcases Love, regret, & the weight of izzat. Rukhsati is a funny, moving and intimate British Pakistani two-hander set during a South Asian wedding in Tooting, London. Nighat and Tariq, former lovers now in their mid-forties, unexpectedly find themselves alone together and revisit the choices, loyalties and expectations that shaped their lives. The play moves between present-day confrontation and memories of youth, using live music and a DJ-led soundscape to unlock nostalgia and collective memory. At its heart are questions of love, marriage, family, identity, belonging and the lives we might have lived. Its cultural world is unmistakably British Pakistani: two people raised in London negotiating inherited Pakistani values, British life, migration, memory and generational change. That specificity is also what makes the story travel. Language: English | Duration: 80 Minutes Date: 15th Nov 2026 | Time: 4:00 PM Venue: Studio 2, Arts Council Karachi Entry is free for all, but registration is mandatory. Free registration at www.acpkhi.com/events (Link in bio) The World Culture Festival Karachi 2026 runs from 29 October to 22 November 2026. #WorldCultureFestival #ACPKHI #ArtsCouncil #WCFK by @officialhassankhan

Coming soon to Karachi 💋 by @officialhassankhan
Rukhsati changed the temperature of 2026 for me, in the best possible way 🩷 After a very long break from theatre, I found myself making my London stage debut in a two-hander, playing Nigat opposite Hassan Khan’s Tariq, with audiences getting so involved you’d have thought someone had quietly billed it as immersive theatre. One of the biggest compliments we heard afterwards was that, despite how intimate the space was, ppl completely forgot where they were, forgot who they were watching, and just disappeared into Nigat and Tariq’s world. In a room that small, where every breath and flicker registers, that meant a lot. To have the Mayor of London come and watch us, give us a standing ovation, and to have so many friends, family, industry people and complete strangers show up and respond to the work meant more than I can explain. It was one of those rare jobs that felt bigger than the run itself. Hassan took a completely mad leap of faith on me. He had mostly seen my work in TV dramas and on film, and essentially decided: yes, she can do this. So much trust. Thank you 🙏 Saqib Deshmukh @saqibdeshmukh wrote this brilliant piece of writing, which is really the heart of all of this. Rukhsati is funny and bruising and uncomfortable and tender and a little bit savage. It gets under your skin. Thank you for trusting me with this 🥰 Then Prashant Taylor @t27.prashant came in and did exactly what the best directors do: he got forensic. Tiny beats. Pauses. Rhythm. Intention. He kept picking and tightening until the whole thing became cleaner, sharper, slicker. Andy @srivibe was so endearing as our hilarious DJ calling out all the randy massies with their roving hands 🫠. DJ sees all. Thank you to Great, Aisha @aisha_r_d , Jaidev, Tia @tiamay29 , Malini @lola.malini and everyone around the production. Couldn’t have done this without each and every one of you 🙌 We are now producing the next chapter of Rukhsati, hopefully taking it to the road , always exploring more London, and oh what? We might be in the motherland soon? 🤫 Heart very full. Eyes firmly on what’s next 💋 by @officialhassankhan
“And it’s a wrap!” Here we go…photo dump of Rukhsati show and bts. Thank you for all the wonderful messages still pouring in for “Rukhsati” weeks after our dream run ended at Tara Theatre. I had written a special thank you note for all of my cast and crew but instagram is saying it’s too long to post on my caption which I’m gutted about. So here’s a short form version ha! Thank you 🙏 Saqib Deshmukh - Captain of the ship and Writer Extraordinaire Prashant Tailor - Director par excellence - Fantastic Ainy Jaffri - Nighat - Partner in crime and rhyme - Outstanding Andrea Somasundram - Dj Kam Khan - OG in da house Aisha Deshmukh - Choreographer - Amazing Jaydev Mistry - Music composer - Ustaad Ji Malini Raman Middleton - Stage manager - Special talent Tia Watts - Tech operator - Brilliant Great Okosun - Production assistant - Good vibes Last but not the least THANK YOU to our wonderful audience for turning up, selling out and making Rukhsati the most talked about show in London. You are the reason we do this and it was heartwarming to see a mix of regular and first time theatre goers. I will personally never forget our Saturday matinee audience- my mum and her desi elder community aunties that were eating, talking on phones and heckling me during performance but showered me with so many blessings after ha! Absolutely loved them and you all! There has been a huge demand for future runs of Rukhsati from public and industry. We apologise to anyone that couldn’t get tickets on this run and will look forward to seeing you all on the next run hopefully soon inshallah. I’m excited for the future of Rukhsati but for now will cherish this experience and not only did I get to play lead on stage for this third run but also served as associate producer which had many learnings, challenges and responsibilities. I stepped up and gave it my all on this run to make it the best show for you all and it turned out to be my most favourite and rewarding run yet. THANK YOU LONDON ❤️🙏❤️ by @officialhassankhan
You ever wondered about the one who got away? What if you ran into them at a wedding? A seriously funny two-hander set in the disused women’s toilet of a wedding hall in Tooting. When Nighat and Tariq reconnect after years apart, memories resurface... and so do complicated feelings. Love is never straightforward… Come see Rukhsati! On @tara_theatre from the 23rd-25th of April! Tickets in bio! #bhangra #southasianwriting #rukhsati #newwriting by @officialhassankhan
RUKHSATI is now live. We open at Tara Theatre this April - four shows only. If you’ve ever had a relationship that didn’t quite end… If you’ve ever carried something unresolved… This story will stay with you. I’m playing Nigat alongside the brilliant Hassan Khan, in a piece written and directed by the incredibly talented Saqib Deshmukh; intimate, layered, and very close to the bone. Tickets are now available. Link in bio. Would really love to see you there. 💋 by @officialhassankhan
