the debut single from Blue (@spoekmathambo x @officialjwaves) has mmmmm droooopppped and it's a disco banger with a sample near and dear to my heart 🖤

i met Spoek back in 2008 somewhere in France (Lyon?) and we've hit a few licks here and there since but we're finally COOKING UP for real and got more on the way. mosey on over to the new J Waves bandcamp to check it out 🥶🪩

I’m so very proud and pleased to announce the launch of TENDING, a 6-episode podcast exploring the fight between Black farmers and the USDA through the lens of Pigford vs Glickman, once the largest class action civil rights lawsuit in american history.

In episode one, I travel down to Tillery NC where I have the pleasure of meeting Mr. Gary Grant (pictured). His fight began in 1985 when his father filed a discrimination claim. The USDA confirmed the claim, but never gave the Grant family their restitution.

I wish I could say this was the only sort of story I encountered on the road to TENDING, but that’s unfortunately not the case. Despite generations of head butting with the USDA, Mr. Grant is string of spirit and humor and he graciously gave me access to both as he shared his family’s harrowing story.

EPISODE CREDITS:
@shirletteammons (host,editor, producer)
@aweigl (producer)
@mosisecret (producer)
@officialjwaves (field recordist)
Sylvia Stewart @brandeisuniversity (research partner, website designer)
@southfoodways @thegravypodcast (host)
Special thanks to Mr. Gary Grant and Mr. Lloyd Wright 🩷🙏🏾🩷 by @officialjwaves

kind of wild to think that i've produced so many podcasts but i can't remember ever being a guest on one. being a huge fan of SVU for its entire run, it was absolutely 🤯 to win the THESE ARE YOUR STORIES contest to be a guest on my favorite L&O show @thesearetheirstoriespodcast - and i was so nervous when we recorded monday night. we went off tho! (those of you who know me somewhat well may notice some subject matter that came up and wonder why i was silent about it ... let's just say i don't always need that to be my whole personality) you know where you can find the link 👆 THANK YOU SO MUCH @reblavoie and @kevinpflynn this was a dream come true #lawandorder #svu #thesearetheirstories #hotforteacher taken in Manhattan, New York by @officialjwaves
