I made this piece during a time when I was learning that prayer doesn’t always look like asking for things.
Sometimes it looks like trusting.
Sometimes it looks like letting go …even when you don’t fully understand what’s happening yet.

This work came from that space.
From trying to stay connected while still showing up, doing the work, and not gripping so tightly to the outcome.

I think a lot of us live here more often than we admit.
Wanting clarity, but learning that faith is really about staying open and believing you’re being held, even in the uncertainty.

Kobe Bean Bryant 💛💜
44” x 44” acrylic paint, puff paint, broken CDs, & crushed glass painting ✨🎨
FOR SALE‼️‼️

Kobe Bryant was one of my favorite basketball players and a MAJOR inspiration to me. When I started out with my art at age 13, I used to draw my favorite basketball players.
Kobe was one of the first people I sketched/drew at my dads old architecture table.

I’m a Virgo like he was. The incessant need we feel to strive to be our your, and constant improvement upon yourself, and craft is something I live by.

Rest In Peace Kobe & Gianna Bryant

Tonight at an Art House event, @joepatnev sang a song about thanking God he’s not 25 anymore… and whew, I felt personally attacked. 😂

I spend so much time thinking about the body, energy, and youth I had at 25 that sometimes I forget to be grateful for everything I’ve gained since then… the wisdom, the career, the impact, the confidence, and the life I couldn’t have imagined yet.

The wrinkles can come. The gray hairs can come. My metabolism and I may remain fighting for awhile. 😂

But thank God I’m not 25 anymore. ❤️

Thank you @joepatnev for the reminder, and @ArtHouseDallas for continuing to pour into artists and our creative community. taken in Dallas, Texas by @officialmarebear

A love story, reimagined in glass. ✨🖤

Such an honor creating this custom portrait for Bradley Beal & Kamiah Adams-Beal, inspired by one of their beautiful wedding images featured in ESSENCE Magazine. @bradbeal3 @kamiahadams @essence

There’s something special about transforming such a meaningful photograph into a one-of-one work of art.

I hope this piece is loved in their home for many years to come. 🤍

Custom commissions are currently open. For inquiries DM. by @officialmarebear

Nearly eight years ago, I left the security of corporate America to pursue art full-time.

I had no idea where that decision would take me. I only knew that art had become more than something I loved ...art had saved my life. It gave me purpose, a voice, and a way to turn some of the hardest chapters of my life into something meaningful.

Since then, l’ve had the privilege of creating across Dallas and the DFW Metroplex ... in galleries, museums, public spaces and communities throughout the city that gave me a place to build my career.

And now, I get to give back to it.🙏

I’m incredibly honored to be appointed District 2 Commissioner to the City of Dallas Arts & Culture Advisory Commission.

I believe DEEPLY that art is more than something beautiful to look at.

Art is infrastructure. It shapes neighborhoods, strengthens communities, drives economic development, preserves our stories and creates opportunities for the next generation to see creativity as something valuable ... and possible.

I want young artists in Dallas to know that their voices matter. That being an artist can be a career. And that their stories deserve a place in the cultural history of this city.

l’ve spent nearly eight years fighting for a life in the arts.

Now I get to fight for the arts.

What a full-circle moment. I’m ready to serve. 🤍 taken in Dallas, Texas by @officialmarebear

I’ve been a full-time artist for seven years, and I expected to spend my days painting or creating. Some of the biggest surprises had nothing to do with a paintbrush.

A few things I never saw coming:
• Painting is only a small part of the job.
• The pieces I think will resonate most often aren’t the ones collectors fall in love with.
• Every collector has a story…and those stories have become one of my favorite parts of this career.

Art has introduced me to incredible people, meaningful conversations, and opportunities I never could have planned for. I’m grateful for every person who has welcomed my work into their home and become part of that journey.

If you’re an artist, what’s something that surprised you about your career? And if you’re a collector, what made you buy your very first piece of art? by @officialmarebear
