Hello! My name is Soham Shirolkar. I’m a rising senior majoring in biomedical engineering and in the Honors College. I’m spending this summer working in a Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) Program at the University of Florida. I'm a part of the Summer Neuroscience Internship Program (SNIP) at the McKnight Brain Institute, working as a research intern in Dr. Bedenbaugh’s lab. Congratulations to Danielle Garrecht for being named a DeRocco Fellow! 🎉The highly competitive DeRocco Advanced Manufacturing Fellowship for Future Women Leaders offers a small group of undergraduate women mentorship, professional development, and work experience through a summer internship.Danielle is a mechanical engineering major with a minor in Spanish language. She received her first internship as a high school senior at Florida Turbine Technologies (FTT) where she has continued to intern every summer in college. At USF, Danielle has engaged in multiple competitions and projects with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and Engineers Without Borders (EWB), including a trip to Bolivia over spring break to work on water supply infrastructure, where she practiced her Spanish language skills.Danielle is now studying abroad in Peru and plans to return to interning at FTT when she arrives back in the States.#usfhonors by @officialusfons

Through the creation of Little Free Libraries across Temple Terrace, Rhea Joshi, Afreen Khan, and Priya Desai — the “Books and Butterflies” team from the 2025 cohort of U.N. Millennium Fellows — are expanding access to more than 500 books for children in neighborhoods that need them most. 📚🦋The United Nations Millennium Fellowship provides leadership training to selected students around the world as they advance projects addressing the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals.Designed to reduce inequality, improve health and education, and promote economic growth, the fellowship allows students to pursue projects individually or in teams. Wilcox Outstanding Graduate!On the heels of that news, she also received the USF Golden Bull Award and two prestigious national fellowships for graduate study — the GEM Fellowship and the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship.A mechanical engineering major in the USF College of Engineering, Daniela is advancing energy-efficient computing through research in nanotechnology and materials science.
