United by a shared dream of excellence and a vision of martial arts as a universal language, the team proved that camaraderie can be shared through individual experiences. Yesterday, I stepped into a different side of competitive karate through USA Karate NKF, a new format, new challenges, new lessons.

A result tells you where you finished that day. It doesn’t define how far you can go.

Proud of the podiums, but even prouder to test myself in unfamiliar territory especially Women’s Elite.

We’re proud to welcome Reid Presley to the USMAT family! 🇺🇸

Many of you know Reid from the competition floor, and we’re excited for our athletes to get to know him as their coach, too.

Reid is joining us as Director of Virtual Training and will also serve as an area coach in Tennessee, leading his own group of athletes. He’ll lead our virtual training program, giving team members more opportunities to learn from him wherever they’re based.

Reid, we’re glad to have you with us and look forward to what we’ll build together. Welcome to the team!

We’ve been thinking about what it should mean to win for your state.

The award needs to recognize the team that earned it, preserve the winning state’s place in history, and return to the United States Invitational & State Games every two years as the competition grows.

That is the idea behind the Union Shield.

The Union represents the states coming together. The Shield represents the honor earned by the champion.

These are early sketches—not a finished design. We know what it needs to represent. We’re still discovering what it should look like.
