Just finished this book recently and very much enjoyed it. The writer describes what it’s like as a person working in a crematory. The stories are a little dark, very human, and ask very thoughtful questions about death and the American relationship/rituals surrounding it. You get a glimpse of death practices in other cultures, as well as her accounts of working in mortuary science today. I appreciate the subject matter and agree that we need lots more open dialogue about death and what people want at end of life. Thank you to @thegooddeath for bringing this topic to light and for your reverence to others. Highly recommended this read. by @offline_mary

Been offline a lot more lately and made this for my mom. It is a playful collection of things that remind me of her and signify a passage of time- past, present, and future. It’s all made from scrap cardboard, paint markers, and colored pencil. by @offline_mary

Rosalie got the opportunity to attend Jazz Combo Day at NIU yesterday. It was a day of many firsts- first solo drive on the highway, going into an event not knowing anyone, and playing improvised music for an audience. She enjoyed her experience there and maybe even surprised herself with her music skills/capabilities. I am proud of her effort with her bass and know that it unlocks a different part of her brain- which is so cool. Getting to watch all the combos perform in the evening was so fun- everyone did great! by @offline_mary

Adding this here because I definitely don’t take enough pictures of friends. We went to see White Christmas at the Paramount with all the kids and had a festive time! Grateful for these people and all the laughter they bring. by @offline_mary

Me- just holding/wearing some signage that highlights only a few of the things I feel strongly about. Breaking the mold of people pleasing and standing up for the things that matter to me. If it negatively impacts others, it should matter to all of us. We need a return to compassion. by @offline_mary

I will miss this someday. Her books are constantly lying around, upside down, her quiet refusal of a bookmark. But she is always reading and reflecting. I’m just capturing something small I will surely miss someday. by @offline_mary

This. This is why I hunt for vintage. When you find holy grail pieces like this dress!! All hand embroidered and full of life. Clothing is NOT made like this anymore. This is the little altar that I made recently for my friend Jill’s birthday. It was made from recycled materials and a lot of consideration for her. I included lots of elements from nature, symbols honoring the sun and moon, a few of her favorite things (coffee, books, nature, the tiniest smudge stick) It comes with intentions for her to come to this tiny place and summon positive energy and honor what she is feeling at that time. by @offline_mary
