One of the top questions I always see around the Spokane foodie scene is: where are the spots that actually give you an experience?

Let me put you on....The Porchlight in Valleyford! 🏡🍻 Serving breakfast, lunch, AND dinner. I’ve been for breakfast, this was my first time out for dinner. 😍😍😍

A short drive out of Spokane takes you into rolling hills, dinner amongst the pines, soaking in those dreamy Palouse views… then you’re huddled around the fire with your favorite glass of wine thinking, yeah… life’s good. 🌲🍷✨

Here’s what we tried:
margherita flatbread, loaded tots, quesadilla, porchlight salad, chicken Caesar wrap, & cheesecake bites (no notes 👏)

And it’s not just the vibes… The Porchlight took 1st Place for Best Outdoor Dining on the Palouse!🏆

PLUS they’ve got something going on all week:

This South Hill glamping experience out on Glenrose is open for the season! I am thrilled to introduce you to The Belle, a stunning campsite available for rent on a 40-acre historic farm that offers serene views of the hill. ⛺️🌇🌾 @glenrose_farm

This spot feels like a hidden oasis, yet it’s only a quick 10-minute jaunt from Downtown Spokane! You also have Winescape just a minute away as well as the famous Glenrose Trails for hiking adventures!

I was living my farm girl dreams once again, the background noise of chickens, star gazing at night, reading by the fire at night, I was in heaven! The details they put into this experience was a 10/10. I felt so special and like the space was made for ME!

With a queen size bed and room to fit a single air mattress or another tent outside, there are options for everyone. Their outdoor kitchen has the basics to make camping an easier with a gravity fed sink, a propane burner, cookware, French press, and cooler space. Bathroom included + extra blankets for a cooler start to the season!

PLUS, if you book a weekday date, you’ll be served up one delicious Dutch baby complete with pipping hot coffee to enjoy the morning views. Trust me, you’ll want to book because of this Dutch baby. 😍😍😍

Walking into Vinegar feels like a warm hug from your favorite fall sweater (striped, ofc), underneath an apple tree, with a hint of pumpkin spice floating through the air, birds chirping in the background, crunchy leaves beneath your feet, you feel me?? 🍎🍂🕯️

And yes, I have to stop in every. single. season because…okay fine. My name is Kasey and I’m addicted to Vinegar. 😂 Of course I also have to film each time I’m in too because...my names Kasey and I’m addicted to posting cutie videos to overused trending audios. 😂

I simply cannot leave this place without finding some gorgeous new seasonal decor items, a candle I absolutely “need,” or something that will make my kitchen/home feel just a little more cozy.

I LOVE how thoughtfully curated everything is here. Every corner feels intentional, and you can tell so much care goes into what they bring in. While Vinegar and Lucky Goods are sisters (heyyyy gurrrllll👋🏼), they each have their own thing going on.

Vinegar leans more into the culinary side with pantry goods, kitchenware, home decor, candles, garden-to-table pottery, and all those little things that make your home, especially your kitchen, feel like a cozy experience rather than just…a kitchen.

If you love making your home feel like a place you actually want to be, put Vinegar on your seasonal rotation. 🤎

The kind of lunch deal that makes you forget all about that sad lunch sitting in the fridge. 😂

Republic Pi is a South Hill favorite for a reason, and their lunch combo is making a pretty strong case for ditching that lunch from home: a personal-sized pi + half salad for only $13.50! 🍕🥗

Your support of a local farm means more than you know. 🌻🤎

Coming from a farming family in Colfax, I’ve seen firsthand just how much heart, hard work, and hope goes into every growing season. You can pour an entire year into the land, only to have weather, fires, smoke, or circumstances completely outside of your control change the outcome in an instant.

That’s the reality of farming, and it’s why this one hit especially close to home.

August was a historically busy time for Half Moon Blooms, but with the fires, families being displaced, weeks of poor air quality, canceled photo sessions, skipped wedding pickings, and everything else happening behind the scenes, it was an incredibly difficult season.

And while their challenges may pale in comparison to those who lost everything, a difficult season still has a very real impact on a small farm and the people working tirelessly behind it. 🌱

So if you’ve been meaning to visit, this is your sign. Go pick some flowers. Bring your kids. Take a friend. Get a gorgeous bucket of locally grown blooms and enjoy a little piece of what they’ve worked so hard to grow. 🥹

And right now, there’s an extra reason to go: every U-pick bucket of mixed flowers comes with six bonus dahlia blooms at no additional cost. 🌸 You get to cut the dahlias yourself, too! Or, you can skip the bucket and pick dahlias by the stem for just $2 each.

It’s October… who doesn’t love a little cake pop mystery? 🎃👀✨ Meet Grace & Goodies, the little mystery cake pop cart hiding in Spokane Valley!

Their cutie little yellow cake pop cart is filled to the brim with the most fun Halloween-designed cake pops! 🎃👻🕷️ Plus, cookies that are seriously SO good. 🤤🍪 I had two…almost in the same sitting….😂

The catch? Their address isn’t publicly shared, so you’ll have to do a little detective work. 🕵️‍♀️ Follow Grace & Goodies on TikTok to see when and where they’re setting up next (they don’t currently have an Instagram 🥲) and go snag yourself some treats before they disappear!

A secret cake pop shop, a yellow cart, and Halloween treats?! This is a mystery I’m happy to investigate. 🎃💛🍭🕵🏼‍♀️

I LOVE all things spooky. You’re talking to the girl who made a trip down to Vegas solely to visit Zak Bagans’ Haunted Museum for her 30th, has explored the Whaley House, the Queen Mary, survived Scarywood (lolol), and trust me… this store gives me the spooky-oooky vibes. 👀

Welcome to Petunia & Loomis, Spokane’s year-round Creeptown. 🖤 This isn’t your typical shop, we’re talking oddities, skulls & bones, taxidermy, wet specimens, creepy dolls, clowns, VHS tapes, horror goodies, Halloween decor, spiritual tools, mystery items and SO much more. If you’ve ever looked at something and thought, “That’s creepy… but I kinda want it,” there’s a good chance you’ll find it here. 😂

They even offer classes like taxidermy, bug pinning and owl pellet classes, so you can take your love of the weird a little further. And for anyone wondering about the specimens: Petunia & Loomis says its taxidermy is primarily vintage, antique or repurposed, while its wet specimens are ethically sourced from animals that passed naturally. 🖤

So whether you’re looking for a spooky little treasure, something wildly unusual, or just want to walk around and say “WHAT IS THAT?!” approximately 47 times…

The cutest little (okay, kinda big) farm stand on the South Hill! 🌻✨ Right next to Huckleberry’s, this charming spot is filled with goodies that are either homemade or handpicked from the cutest vintage shops.

The Huckleberry Mercantile just opened back in August and is such a fun little addition to the neighborhood! Score some chicken and duck eggs, homemade jam, blind dates with a book, totes, hand-pressed jewelry, crafts, and so much more.

Nicole is a mastermind with the hand-made goods and her kids (and husband) help her with a lot of the items you’ll see when you visit! Truly a family affair.

Plus, you can even feed their chickens and ducks onsite! Just throw a coin into their machine and score a little thing filled with mealworms, YUM!

Whimsy is having a moment now that we’re in our Practical Magic + Gilmore Girls season. 🍂✨

My favorite thing to do is take a drive allllllll around the South Hill & beyond, turning down the random roads, and seeing what I find. There’s a surprising amount of magic hiding around Spokane. 🏡🔮✨
