Looking back at 15 years of @swarmstudios.chc - we developed a visual identity for this community of urban creatives which wasn’t about a logo or adhering to a strict brand guideline, but about capturing the energy and movement in a visual style that evolved constantly. The original logo for Moorhouse Dance Studio - set in modified Futura Mural at the original dance studio. Ink and acrylic on wall. Though much of @thedeepseries was done on Clip Studio Pro on the iPad, a significant chunk of Deep Black, book two, was done with ink on paper. To achieve the confidence and rhythm needed to produce pages after pages of art, I did a lot of study and experiments. This was one of them. Ink on paper (or any traditional art form) is good for the soul. The Deep Series Books 1 and 2 are available on Amazon. by @offsite_work

What is the most English font?? Gill Sans (or its original Johnston) is so English that allusions to it can still be seen on the hand painted signs of Indian Railways carriages all the way in India. Funnily enough they are starting to move away from this as you won’t see any Gill Sans on the English football team kit this year at the World Cup - nor on most British government branding today. Subaru logo = Matariki stars?? Love it when a story is told in a way that flips expectations. Arrival is also a masterclass in production design, the way it invents a distinct atmosphere and mood that doesn’t borrow from known sci-fi tropes.
