Travel planning... but make it less mysterious.

I will be the first to tell you that not every trip needs the same level of support. Sometimes you already know the hotel and just want it booked with perks when available. Sometimes you need a smart shortlist. Sometimes the whole trip has moving parts and you want someone else to make the puzzle pieces fit together.

And new around here: I’m also taking on more group + corporate travel, especially the trips that need hotel sourcing, room blocks, retreats, offsites, meetings, and one clear point of contact for all the moving pieces.

Need help figuring out where to start? Send me the trip you’re thinking about and I’ll point you in the right direction.

TL;DR: Support a real person with taste, not a faceless booking portal.

I love hotels.
I love hotel sheets.
I love hotel snacks.
I love hotel martinis.
I love a dramatic lobby moment.

This year I stayed in, toured, celebrated holidays in, and yes, drank martinis in a lot of very cool hotels. Getting to call all of this “research” is the gift of a lifetime.

Out of all of them, these are the top three spots where I actually rested my head and thought, yep… this is it.

Fall should be fun. 🍂

So I played a little game with myself: if I had a long weekend, no passport, and budget didn’t matter, where in the U.S. would I go?
Some of these stays are absolutely the equivalent of a week in Italy. I know. That is part of the exercise.

I picked places with a strong sense of place, whether that means desert, mountains, lake, ranch, private island, or a very Gemini two-stop in Tennessee.

I wrote the full version on Substack, with why each one made the list and what I’d actually book.

Want to visit the Amalfi Coast but don’t have anyone willing to commit to the trip?

I may have found your answer.

This seven-night, women-only journey is being hosted by the brilliant owners of @amalficoastescapes, the local team I work with to plan private experiences for my own clients along the Amalfi Coast. They know the coastline, the people and the places worth your time, and they’ll be with the group throughout the week.

The trip is designed for women who want the fun and connection of traveling with a small group, without being attached to that group every second of the day. You’ll have beautiful accommodations, private experiences, and local guides, plus time to wander around on your own.

Translation: Italy without waiting for a friend to commit, navigating the ferries with your luggage or spending seven days trapped on a giant tour bus.

DM me AMALFI and I’ll send you the full itinerary and booking details. 🍋 🇮🇹 by @offthegridwithlb

Scouting trips can be near or far.

Usually, they start with an obsession I can’t shake. A hotel I need to experience. A place I need to lay eyes on. A train I need to ride. More on that in November.

Before I go, I become a whale inhaling krill, except the krill is information. Hotel notes, neighborhood maps, restaurant lists, partner recs, random saved posts, all of it. I love research. I cannot be helped.

Once I’m there, I usually change hotels every couple of days, pack the schedule, and meet with local partners when I can. It’s basically Supermarket Sweep, but with hotels, restaurants, trains, and tiny logistical details.

So yes, it looks like a trip. But it’s also how I figure out what’s actually worth recommending.

Because photos are one thing. Reviews are one thing. But walking the neighborhood, sleeping in the hotel, seeing how the day actually flows, finding the good lunch spot, clocking the tiny logistical things that make or break a trip?

That’s the research.

And that’s the part I love.❤️

Need help planning a trip with this level of thought behind it?

There is nothing I love more than a little token from a trip I’ve taken. Over the years, I’ve amassed a pretty cool collection of things I love dearly.

I kind of wish I had started collecting one specific thing from every place I visited, but better late than never. I think I’ll start collecting mugs from this day forward. Basic, I know, but at least I’ll use them daily.

Just curious: What’s the best souvenir you’ve ever brought home from a trip? by @offthegridwithlb

Family-friendly hotels in Europe, according to Auntie Lynette. Part 1.

I know far more about traveling with kids than I ever expected to, mostly because so many of my clients are families.

And honestly, the right hotel matters. A lot.

It’s not just “does this hotel allow children?” Very generous, thank you. It’s whether the room setup works, the food is easy, the pool buys everyone a minute, and there’s at least one thing the kids will still be talking about later.

Here are three Europe hotels my clients love, and the specific details that make them work for family trips.

Need help finding the right fit for your family trip? Send me the destination, ages, dates, and general vibe. I’ll point you toward hotels that make sense.

TL;DR: Family-friendly, but still fun for the adults.

Paris, edited.

This is not a first-timer’s itinerary. It’s a tightly edited list for when you’ve done the big things, or you want a Paris trip that feels a little more personal than the usual checklist.

A hotel with color. A long lunch. A proper dinner. A tourist moment that is actually worth it. A show you won’t forget. A small activity to remind you of Paris 1, 5, or 20 years down the road.

The City of Light is not short on options. The trick is choosing the right ones that maximize the joy!

Travel should be fun!

PSA: Winter break is not a December problem.

Cartagena for Christmas. New Year’s Eve in Paris. Ski week out west. A Maui escape where nobody has to host.

The good options are already starting to thin out, and spring break is not far behind.

Need ideas? Send me the vibe and I’ll send you a few places that check your boxes.

One of my favorite trips to plan is a girls trip.

The annual trip, the milestone birthday, the “how did we actually find a weekend that works for everyone?” miracle.

For fall, I like the idea of choosing the place based on the vibe of the group. Are we resetting? Going out? Shopping? Eating well? Pretending we’re outdoorsy? Buying cowboy boots? All legit.

Here are a few domestic girls trip ideas for fall, depending on what kind of trip your group chat is actually trying to have.
