Kandilli House: Interior design by @ofisistanbul

In the bathroom, handmade green tiles in varying tones are paired with natural timber, continuing the home’s warm character and its connection to the owner’s roots. With a freestanding vanity, open storage and personal objects, the space was designed to feel less like a conventional bathroom and more like an intimate part of everyday life.

Kandilli House: Interior design by @ofisistanbul

With this house, designed in Kandilli in 2020, we set out to create an urban village home within a vast and fast-moving metropolis like Istanbul. The result is not an interior arranged simply to look beautiful, but a genuine home shaped by its owner’s habits, interests and actual needs: lived in, full of life and containing nothing beyond what is truly necessary.

The client’s preference for walking barefoot while always feeling a rug beneath his feet made textiles an important part of the design. Through rugs, fabrics and tactile surfaces, we strengthened the house’s connection to its geography. This local, at times distinctly rural character was layered over a clean and modern architectural framework. Without its textiles, the interior feels contemporary and global; with them, it becomes unmistakably rooted in this place.

Music was treated not as an activity confined to a single corner, but as an essential element extending throughout the house. We wanted instruments such as the piano, Godin MultiOud, classical oud, cümbüş and saz to remain accessible as natural parts of everyday life. Rather than placing the music area in a separate, formally defined room, we integrated it into the living space, allowing it to accommodate both solitary moments and informal sessions with friends.

We designed the living area as an intimate and flexible setting that could work equally well for time spent alone and informal gatherings with friends. In place of a formal and distant living room, we created a comfortable space where the client could stretch out, sink into the seating and spend time with a book or an instrument in hand. By keeping the television from becoming the focal point, we defined the room primarily as a place for living and gathering rather than watching.

Kandilli House: Interior design by @ofisistanbul

Our aim for Kandilli House was to create an urban interpretation of a village home. For a client whose life unfolds within the fast-paced working life and constant movement of Istanbul and London, we designed a home that brings the feeling of the village he misses into his life in the city. The space accommodates his familiar routines while reflecting the calm and simplicity of the Mediterranean village where he grew up, creating a contemporary urban home rooted in its owner’s personal history.

A moodboard by Ofist for Poised House, exploring a calm, coherent and enduring modern backdrop layered with colour, pattern, texture and graphic elements. The contrast is intentional: a clear architectural base holds together a more expressive, playful and energetic world. A distinctly postmodern home, sophisticated without taking itself too seriously.

We gave up square metres to gain something more valuable: volume.

When we first walked into White House, a low floor sat above the entrance, making the space feel compressed and dark. Instead of trying to preserve every possible square metre, we removed it completely and opened the entrance all the way up to the roof.

Suddenly, the house had light, height and a completely different sense of space.

That new volume needed more than just openness. It needed to connect the house vertically.

So we designed the staircase as a strong horizontal and sculptural element moving through the three-dimensional space, linking the main floor to the rooftop terrace and making that connection visually present from the moment you enter.

The full-height library and storage wall became part of the same idea, reinforcing the relationship between different levels rather than treating them as separate floors.

For something so present, the staircase also had to feel surprisingly light.

It needed enough character to become almost monumental, but without filling the space with mass. So we designed it as a slim metal structure, open and permeable, allowing light, views and movement to pass through it.

It is both an object in the room and part of the architecture around it.

And then there is the detail that gave the staircase another layer of meaning.

White House was under construction during the Gezi Park protests, as trees in the park were being cut down. The small leaf-shaped perforations in the metal steps were designed in reference to those trees.

As sunlight passes through them, the leaves appear again as shifting patterns of light and shadow across the house.

That is why we do it. by @ofisistanbul

A semi-custom yacht needs a clear design foundation, with room for its owner to make it personal. For the 39MXPC and 38XPC Classic, Ofist created an interior that allows for considered variations, giving each version its own character while staying true to the yacht’s overall design.

A design can hold its character and still leave room for its owner. The 39MXPC and 38XPC Classic provides a considered foundation for personal touches, allowing each owner to shape a version of their own while preserving the qualities at its heart.

For the 39MXPC and 38XPC Classic, Ofist drew on the enduring character of classic motor yachts without tying the interior to a particular era. Familiar nautical references are woven into the architecture, giving the yacht a sense of continuity with the past while keeping it distinctly contemporary.

Numarine 38XPC and 39MXPC Classic: Interior Design by @ofisistanbul

There is something recognisably nautical about the interior, but we never wanted it to become a nautical theme. The blue, white, timber, leather and metal are all there, yet none of them is used as a cliché.

Together they create a world that feels right for this particular yacht; familiar without feeling predictable, sophisticated without becoming formal.
