A year ago since the first time I immersed myself into some kind of creative community. My creative path has been very solo from the beginning. I’m kind of beginning to appreciate it this way as I’m developing as a person, a woman and a creative.I know a time will come where I’m fully immersed in it all. From mind to matter. I wanted to finally pay homage to my Ghanaian heritage through a creation of mine but I wanted to do it my way! I found out about adinkra symbols in 2021 and I was so in awe of the simple wisdom that came from them! Why not pair the pivotal moment of creating my first ever menswear piece with my first ever creation that pays homage to my ethnicity.

#sankofa comes from the adinkra spiritual system & it encourages looking to the past to create the future from wisdom. I’d like to think this project was a manifestation of that. Here’s to more.

Life is so much easier when you’re plugged into the source. This is my fave way to feel instantly connected to God and to invite God into ANY situation I may be facing.
